Bachelor of Arts (Hons.), Media, Information & Technoculture • Western University
Caylin was voted Vice President Social of MScSM Student Executive Council (MSEC) for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Caylin graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media, Information and Technoculture. Not long after she started pursuing this cross-disciplinary degree, she discovered that the information we consume for knowledge, communication and entertainment also have a powerful impact on our economy and our social and natural environment. After taking courses such as Media and Environmental Justice, Caylin found her passion in advocating for sustainable urban development and social entrepreneurship.
During university, Caylin volunteered at a number of organizations that focus on environmental sustainability, such as London Environmental Network (LEN). Working at this non-for-profit organization as an Events Committee member allowed Caylin to gain deeper insight about the sustainability-related issues in London businesses. Caylin volunteered her photography and graphic design skills to showcase sustainable initiatives for a reason: she believes powerful visual storytelling can spark emotional connection and create change. On campus, she was also involved with EnvironWestern, a student group that advocate sustainability to UWO students. As the leader of the Reusability Project Team, Caylin planned and ran events such as the Clothing Auction and Refill to Win to encourage students to move away from disposable to reusable purchasing habits.
During her spare time, Caylin enjoys trying out hands on projects on woodworking, DIY, upcycling, gardening and other home improvement projects. She also likes to read and write about living a low-impact lifestyle in urban cities and shares her journey of becoming more conscious, and responsible individual on social media.
