Madeline Collins

Bachelor of Engineering • Civil Engineering and Society • McMaster University

Madeline graduated from McMaster University in 2016 with a degree in Civil Engineering and Society. Through discussions and case studies in her Engineering and Society classes, she began to develop a greater interest in the social and environmental impacts of technology and development. In her final year of study, she focused on courses in wastewater and water treatment, as well as water resource management, which developed into a passion for the industry.

After being introduced to the Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO) in her fourth year, her interest in the water industry continued to grow. She acted as the president of the McMaster WEAO Student Chapter after re-launching the club to help create a network of like-minded students and professionals within the school. She also completed an inquiry report on tiny homes in her final year and finds the minimalist lifestyle associated with these homes very inspiring.

Madeline enjoys hiking, running, swimming and yoga. She is always reading a few books at a time, can spend hours in a museum or art gallery, and enjoys painting. She greatly dislikes disposable water bottles and her goal is to be involved with innovative projects that help protect the health and security of our water resources.
