Bio
(Sarah) Anh Hoang holds a Bachelor of International Economics from the Vancouver School of Economics at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Focusing on environmental economics, her academic background combines conservation, environmental policy, and renewable resources with corporate finance and business courses. This dual focus allowed her to develop a strong understanding of both theoretical sustainability frameworks and practical business operations. Sarah is particularly interested in leveraging economics and finance to implement sustainable practices across the corporate sector.
Sarah’s interest in corporate climate strategy developed during a climate-related reporting course at the UBC Sauder School of Business. This led to hands-on experience as an Analyst with the Centre for Climate and Business Solutions (CCBS), where she provided pro-bono advisory services to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions. During this time, Sarah also competed in the Accounting for Sustainability International Case Competition (A4SICC), where her team placed as one of eight global finalists out of eighty entries.
Her professional experience spans multiple sectors, including mining, apparel, regenerative agriculture, and non-profits. Her past projects include co-leading research on carbon credits, developing decarbonization pathways for local businesses, and serving as an MC for Canada's Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) under the UNFCCC. In her current role as an ESG Consultant for the Zircon Industry Association, Sarah works directly with organizations navigating the financial and operational challenges of implementing large-scale sustainability initiatives. Observing these corporate complexities firsthand motivated her to pursue the Master of Science in Sustainability Management (MScSM) program, where she intends to build the strategic management skills necessary to help clients successfully align environmental targets with commercial realities.
Outside of her academic and professional work, Sarah enjoys exploring new cities, hosting dinner parties, and playing team sports, with a particular interest in volleyball. She is also an avid traveler who enjoys learning about different cultures through their culinary history.
