Bio
Giulia graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Environmental Management and Sociology. She has always been interested in studying behaviour and the circumstances that precede human action; however, it wasn’t until her first year of undergraduate studies that she developed a passion for the environment. From that point on, Giulia took her interest in studying human behaviour and used it to explore why so many environmental issues arise in society.
As of today, Giulia works as a receptionist at a dental clinic, performing administrative work and helping the staff with their duties wherever possible. What she hadn’t expected to encounter in this role was the glaring waste problem seemingly so characteristic of the healthcare industry. She has since been trying to apply small changes around her workplace to ensure that their impact is reduced, with a major emphasis placed on encouraging the reuse of products as much as possible. This discovery only solidified her desire to work in the environmental field, with the hope that her actions can bring on positive changes. She also volunteers as a social media manager for a grassroots organization looking to ban plastics in Toronto. Here, she is responsible for creating posts that touch on plastic use in conjunction with more general topics related to the environment.
When she’s not in an academic or professional context, Giulia enjoys spending her time outside as much as she can. Her favourite season is a mix between summer and fall, where she is able to enjoy nature and go for runs/walks. During the winter months, Giulia spends her time watching hockey and cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs. She also enjoys going to the gym as much as she can, where she spends her time weight-lifting and attempting to reach new cardio goals. Reading has been a long-standing hobby since she was young; however, she is always open to adopting new hobbies, with her most recent endeavours being learning how to make sushi and how to sew/embroider clothes.
