Neetu Garcha

Master of Science in Sustainability Management • University of Toronto Mississauga

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) • Sociology & Human Resource Management • University of Waterloo

Neetu completed her undergrad at the University of Waterloo with an Honours Bachleor of Arts in Sociology and Human Resource Management. In addition to devoting her time to her academics, she also is involved in the community. Neetu started working as an educational manager at a not-for-profit organization called Tutoring Beyond Borders. And for the last 4 years, she has been the Vice President of Human Resources. There, she was in charge of tasks including reviewing all volunteer candidates, conducting tutor interviews, providing training, and so forth. Her leadership skills along with creativity were proven with the growth the company has experienced in both students and tutors over the last several years. In addition, she also helped implement new policies and procedures for the organization.

The combination of her interest in HR and environment, lead her to apply to the MScSM program at UTM. During her course work, she was able to gain a broad understanding of sustainability management practices and principles. She is further developing her skills at her current internship with Parks Canada, where she is able to help with national coordination and reporting, and provide strategic planning support for conservation and restoration projects.

Furthermore, she has volunteered in several organizations, such as the Ontario Skills Competition (as a volunteer in the human resource department), Heart and Stroke Foundation and Grand River Hospital.
