Bio
Emma Malik is a recent University of Toronto graduate with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Environmental Studies, with minors in Environmental Science and Human Geography. During her degree she also earned a Certificate in Global Development, Environment and Health (UofT Global Scholar) and a Certificate in Sustainability (UofT Sustainability Scholar). Her interest in sustainability began at a young age and has been fostered throughout her education at UofT. She is driven to work with different groups – companies, students, public, and government – to communicate and exemplify the importance of sustainability throughout different industries, using science communication, implementation, and goal driven approaches. Through experience in coursework, lab work and fieldwork, Emma has developed a multidisciplinary approach that is committed to working towards sustainability on a global scale.
Her academic experiences reflect her deep commitment and interest in utilizing environmental science, GIS, data and research to understand and combat worldwide issues; socially, economically and environmentally. Having worked with infrastructure mapping using LiDAR technology, Emma is able to contextualize environmental data to understand greater trends and patterns throughout various landscapes. Using her experience working with children and with the public through environmental programs, she utilizes science communication to effectively share scientific data to many different audiences. Bridging together her technical expertise, with her experience delivering knowledge, she has been able to share her passion in ways that encourage sustainability efforts, growth and change within her community.
In addition to her passion for sustainability, Emma enjoys travelling, hiking and yoga. She loves to bake and is enthusiastic about spending time outdoors with family and friends.
