Dr. Shaun Young appointed director of the OVPRI
Following a competitive search process, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Shaun Young as Director of the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation (OVPRI) at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM).
Shaun has served as Interim Director in recent months, providing steady leadership for our team during a time of transition. His deep understanding of the research and innovation landscape and commitment to collaboration have been instrumental in supporting the research and innovation community here at UTM.

Building Connections: Formalizing and Funding your Research Partnerships
Thursday, July 10, 2025 | 1-2 p.m. | Virtual via Zoom
This second session of a two-part mini-series will focus on the next stage of research collaboration: navigating sponsored research agreements and identifying funding opportunities. Attendees will gain insights into the processes, considerations, and resources involved in formalizing research partnerships, including agreement structures, intellectual property, and funding mechanisms. Open to faculty, staff, and students interested in advancing collaborative research through formal agreements and external support.

SURF Transitions to the Office of the Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean
Beginning this year, the Summer Undergraduate Research Fair (SURF) will transition from the OVPRI to the Office of the Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean (OVPAD). The event will be integrated into their flagship Experiential Education Fair, taking place September 24–25, 2025, in the Kaneff Centre Rotunda.

Guidance on International Travel for University Activities
Support and resources are available for students, staff, faculty and librarians travelling internationally for university-related activities such as conferences, study abroad programs, internships, research or fieldwork. Recently, concerns about travel to the United States have been raised by some members of our community.
