Project Grant Program

Overview

The CIHR Project Grant Program funds research in the health sciences. This program holds two competitions annually, with deadlines in September and March.

  • Registration deadline: February 4, 2026
  • RSO optional editorial review deadline: February 6, 2026 (notify RSO of intent to submit by Jan 29)
  • Deadline for optional UTM editorial review*: February 18, 2026
  • UTM MRA deadline (submit MRA by): February 23, 2026
  • RSO MRA deadline (to be received by): February 25, 2026
  • Application deadline: March 4, 2026
  • Anticipated notice of decision: July 22, 2026
  • Funding start date: October 1, 2026

*Contact a.pogoutse@utoronto.ca or grants.ovpri.utm@utoronto.ca for editorial review. Editorial review requests past the editorial review deadline will be accepted, but applicants will have less time to make revisions prior to the MRA and sponsor deadlines.
