Bachelor of Arts & Science in Sustainability, Science, and Society McGill University

Bio

Giulia received a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Sustainability, Science, and Society (SSS) from McGill University in May 2025. While her interest in sustainability began in high school, the interdisciplinary SSS degree at McGill introduced her to detailed aspects of environmental, social, and governance. Specifically, classes such as Strategies for Sustainability, Environmental Management, and Research in Sustainability furthered her passion for integrating environment and business through a sustainability lens. During her final year at McGill, she undertook her Undergraduate Honours Thesis, in which she, alongside her Thesis Supervisor and 15 interviewees, collaboratively researched and explored the relationship between digitization, statehood, and climate change-induced sea-level rise in Tuvalu. At the end of this eight-month research project, Giulia generated an informational poster and presented her methodology, results, and future research. This project sparked an infinite interest in environmental communication, research, and consulting for entities pursuing transformations towards sustainable solutions.

As her passion for sustainability grew in the SSS program, Giulia applied her problem-solving skills to real-world projects in her Sustainability Assurance & Reporting Internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. During this internship, Giulia researched sustainable finance trends across mining, energy, utilities, and financial industries, presenting these findings to 100 full-time employees. This passion for environmental research was echoed in her time as a Project Development Intern with an experienced climate researcher and advocate. Here, she compiled research on mitigation and adaptation strategies for the Arab region’s response to climate change. By facilitating conversations with various stakeholders through workshops, Giulia worked with her colleagues to create three presentations and reports on the viability of desalination projects in the Arab region. These opportunities allowed her to apply her previous skills in sustainable management while also deepening her understanding of stakeholder engagement, cross-silo collaboration, and project management within practical sustainability discussions.

Finally, Giulia played various sports at McGill, including her position as the Spirit Captain of the Women’s B Ultimate Frisbee team. She participated in several university tournaments across Ontario and Quebec, which have helped instill values of collaboration, communication, and teamwork. She hopes to apply these life experiences to the MScSM program at UTM and looks forward to meeting new people!
