Bachelor of Science (Honours), Environmental Science • Western University
Gillian graduated from Western University in 2018 with an Honors Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Gillian developed a keen interest in geography and business, understanding the importance of these areas in the greater scope of environmental sustainability.
During Gillian’s undergraduate degree, she had the opportunity to complete her honors research thesis in a plant physiology laboratory, measuring the impacts of common chemicals found in everyday consumer products on the growth and productivity of the agriculturally and commercially important soybean plant. Through her research, Gillian has witnessed the first hand impacts of modern consumer life on the natural environment, which has solidified her pursuit of a career in environmental sustainability in relation to consumers, businesses, and environmental regulation.
Gillian has worked at the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks as an Environmental Assistant, where she collaborated first-hand with businesses and municipalities who are seeking environmental compliance for their business practices. This position enhanced and provided invaluable skills in Gillian’s communication, attention to detail, and experience with business and client relations.
Gillian was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, and loves the fast-paced, vibrant, multicultural and creative atmosphere of the big city. However, she has also found a passion for spending her time discovering the outer-city life with camping, hiking, and travelling.
