Bio

Arielle graduated from McMaster University in 2014 after completing an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Geography/Environmental Studies and Political Science. She was a member of the Golden Key Society and placed on the Dean’s list for her academic achievement. Her specific interests were environmental issues that pose potential political instability and social injustice. Arielle worked as an undergraduate TA for the Faculty of Geography and Earth Sciences for three semesters. She was also actively involved as a faculty representative and peer mentor.

Arielle completed her first year in the MScSM program making the Dean’s List and was able to acquire a deeper understanding of environmental systems while also gaining knowledge in sustainable business models. Her first year provided her with the opportunity to enhance her research, report writing, and presentation skills, as well as her critical and integrative thinking abilities.

For three years, Arielle volunteered as an environmental ambassador for the City of Mississauga where she worked to promote sustainable living. Arielle has also had the exciting opportunities of facilitating sustainability-focused workshops with UTM’s Show Me The Green conference and the Mississauga Board of Trade’s sustainability event. For her work-term placement, Arielle had the one of a kind opportunity to work with the Canada’s Clean50 organization where she contributed to researching and recognizing sustainability champions within all industries across Canada. Over the summer term, Arielle worked with two separate research positions at U of T and will work as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate course in National Environmental Policy this fall.

In her spare time, Arielle enjoys playing music, cycling, visual arts, travelling, volunteering for environmental and humanitarian causes, and researching ethically and sustainably produced products
