Bio

Michael graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2017 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences, Honours Specialization in Health Promotion. At the University he developed a keen interest for health marketing and pharmacology, which have contributed to his knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and the intricacy of population health needs. Michael has dedicated his education to studying health promotion and is interested in pursuing a career where his promotional work provides sustainable direction and guidance to the marketing of health products and services.

While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Michael was actively involved in clubs and services which aim to communicate and deliver health information and interventions using consumer-centered strategies. Specifically, at the Wellness Education Centre he served a diverse student population, interpreted the complexities of student health needs and coordinated appropriate services. In addition, for the club Students for Partners in Health he was named Executive Member of Events, orchestrating the production of health promotion events including the Global Spotlight on Indigenous Health, and exceeding goals set by the non-profit. Post-graduation, Michael began work for the City of Toronto as a Research Coordinator in evaluating the implications for a range of city planning initiatives. Discoveries of his research have advocated for the expansion of youth hubs at four priority sites including The Zone Scarborough, which provide after-school drop-in programs to students of low income families; bridging the gap between health and income inequalities across Toronto communities.

Michael enjoys personal training, travel and tourism, exploring new technology and playing a variety of instruments like the piano and the alto saxophone. Through the MScSM program, he hopes to transform the way businesses employ marketing tactics to satisfy the health needs of at risk populations.
