Bachelor of Arts, Political Science • Wilfrid Laurier University
During her undergraduate degree in Political Science Wilfrid Laurier University, Katia
was very interested in international governance and international trade. Her passion for
social justice led her to join a 3-week field research course in Brazil during her last year
of university, to study agrarian social movements in South America.
She founded the Vegan and Vegetarian Association to promote the positive changes
associated with a sustainable diet and bring awareness to the negative effects of
industrial farming. She pursued this project for the last 2 years of her undergraduate
program and she is happy to say that the community is still active!
Upon graduating, Katia was hired in an early-stage start up in an Account Director. At
Top Hat, she promoted the benefits of integrating educational technology in postsecondary
classrooms across North America. She presented the technology to various
individuals and groups while using a consultative approach to improve student
engagement and drive adoption. Following that role, she accepted a new position as a
Senior Bilingual Account Executive at Indeed.com. She analyzed the recruitment
challenges of small to large businesses in Quebec to implement online recruitment
campaigns and build long-term partnerships. Her strong communication skills, goaloriented
personality and ability to mobilize others allowed her to succeed as a Account
Katia loves to travel; she recently back-packed Central America alone for 2.5 months,
where she volunteered on a sustainable farm, learned to surf, scuba-dove and met
friends from around the world. While in Toronto, Katia practices yoga regularly, visits
farmers markets and shares her passion for eating/cooking with friends!
