Bio

As a native of Israel who came to Canada in the summer of 2010, Avi was a mature student during his undergraduate studies at the Ryerson University, completing his B.Comm degree in the Spring of 2014, with a major in Global Management, and an undeclared minor in Entrepreneurship. As a young child growing up watching his father compassionately and thoughtfully manage his own company, which has grown to become an international manufacturer with +70 employees, Avi has always been interested in management and business as a means to impact society. Prior to arriving to Canada, Avi spent 1.5 years living and working in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Avi moved to Canada to reunite with his now wife, Gila. The couple has two children, a son, Eylam (6) and a daughter, Amalia (3.5).

In the summer of 2017, Avi decided to leave a 12+ year career in the security world (7 of which in Aviation Security), to pursue a new life path in the Sustainability world. Driven by his desire to provide his children with a better future, Avi came to the realization that his work in the security world has been important, however not meaningful. Avi then left his position as the Deputy Chief of Security in the Toronto branch of an international airline, and embarked on a journey which led him to the MScSM program. Avi met and interacted with many individuals and organizations in the Canadian and USA sustainability industry, through volunteering in, and attending several conferences and workshops. During this process of discovery, Avi has also completed a Project Management Certificate through the University of Toronto, and a year-long certificate program in Social Impact Strategy through the University of Pennsylvania. Currently Avi works for GreenSaver, Ontario's leading energy conservation not-for-profit organization.

Avi enjoys participating in and watching a variety of sport activities, with his main interests being basketball and baseball. Avi also enjoys spending time with his family.
