Ryan completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in 2017 majoring in Environmental Ethics and Political Science. Throughout Ryan’s academic studies, he became fascinated with proactive climate change mitigation efforts. Being able to critically analyze problems, in order to effectively develop solutions, led Ryan to the realization that investing in long-term sustainability through environmental education and behavioural change are crucial to alleviating this current crisis.
Upon graduating, Ryan has been fortunate enough to gain considerable professional experience in the Environmental sector. Working at Ontario’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and GreenSaver –Ontario’s oldest energy conservation non-profit, Ryan has developed an appreciation for those pursuing environmental justice daily. Ryan’s wealth of transferable skills stems from his contributions to a variety of projects in analytical, research, and development roles. Ryan has provided research assistance for Associate Professor Stephen Scharper, and takes pride in his volunteering efforts for the non-profit organization GreenPAC.
In his spare time, Ryan enjoys staying active. Having previously been a 4x National Champion in the sport of Sprint Canoe Kayak and a Canadian Representative at international competitions, he finds immense satisfaction in being outdoors living a healthy lifestyle. Ryan also enjoys spending time with family and friends. Through the MScSM Program, he hopes to make the abstract concepts of sustainability and environmentalism more practical and adoptable for modern society.
