Taylor Whitfield

Bachelor of Arts • Global Studies • Wilfrid Laurier University

Taylor graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Studies in 2014. During his final two years there he took part in the Global Studies Experience program which consisted of a summer volunteer placement in Xi’an, China, a local volunteer placement at a tutoring club for refugee children in Waterloo, and two upper year course credits. This overall experience cemented his interest in sustainability and all things related to global issues.

In addition to his time in China, Taylor has participated in hands-on volunteer projects in Kenya, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, working on both social and environmental issues. He also has international experience from the perspective of a border officer for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). As an undergraduate student he worked for the CBSA at Pearson International Airport in Toronto interviewing hundreds of travelers every day while enforcing customs and immigration law.

As someone with a passion for sustainability and the environment, Taylor hopes to one day work in the private sector as a sustainability consultant who can help businesses become more socially conscious and environmentally friendly.

In his free time Taylor enjoys seeing live music, hiking, traveling, cooking, and training Brazilian jiu jitsu.
