Honours Bachelor of Science, Biopharmaceutical Science • University of Ottawa

April 1, 2020 - Congratulations to Linxi Mytkolli who was named in Canada's Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25  - 2020 Winners! by The Starfish

Linxi recently graduated from the University of Ottawa with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biopharmaceuticals, specializing in Genomics. Throughout her undergraduate degree in Biopharmaceutical Sciences, she was able to sharpen my perception of the healthcare sector as well as enhance her quantitative and communication skills by producing high quality work that was recognized in the Women in Science and Engineering National Conference and published in The Ottawa Citizen, as well as the University of Ottawa undergraduate science journal.

Her central focus on health promotion and equality in healthcare drew Linxi to the head leadership position with Actions for Healthcare, a student-run charitable community organization with chapters in several cities across Canada. Being the first female leader of the organization, Linxi had an unmatched appeal to female students and has increased the organizations role in advocating for gender equality which is paralleled by her own leadership strategies. It was under her leadership that the first gender-equal healthcare conference, as well as first paper-free healthcare conference was held this past February in Ottawa, garnering the recognition of Mayor Jim Watson and Madame Sophie Gregoire Trudeau.

Her zeal for youth activism and health promotion has been demonstrated throughout her years of progressive educational training and working with diverse populations. This life passion prompted her pursuit of a MSc. in Sustainability Management. She believes that sustainability is the capacity to endure over time and healthcare is the field that aims to maintain and improve mankind’s health. They share the goal of improving the quality and longevity of life. There are still many persistent challenges in directing the healthcare sector to commit to sustainability goals. However, she believes the biggest challenge is the lack of engaged leadership that personifies the sustainability goals. With a degree in Sustainability Management, coupled with leadership experience and medical training, she plans to revolutionize the healthcare sector.
