Join us for the fourth annual UTM Sustainability Week! Sustainability Week will be held this year from Monday March 13th to Friday March 17th, 2023 in partnership with UTMSU, the UTM Sustainability Office, and the MScSM Student Executive Council (MSEC).
This year the theme for the week will be Acknowledge. Align. Act. As we collectively acknowledge there is a climate crisis and we all have a part to play, align our skills and values to an area of sustainability, and act towards making important changes for the planet. The purpose of this week is to create impact and encourage collaboration on campus towards a more sustainable community on campus and beyond.
We will be featuring Love + Sustainability events throughout Sustainability Week in memoriam of UTM Professor Barbara Murck, an advocate for all things sustainability and beloved member of our community. This year’s Sustainability Week will be dedicated to Professor Murck.

Sustainability Week 2021
In March 2021, MScSM students and other students’ groups organized their Sustainability Week themed around understanding how sustainability intersects all aspects of life. Each day of the week had a theme: Mindful Monday, Trashless Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Tech Thursday, and Future Friday. The week provided opportunities for campus community members to showcase and share their passion and contributions to sustainability. Students’ participation was overwhelming, with over 40 events run by students.
Trashion Show 2021
We were happy to include the third annual Trashion Show in the programming. The event was hosted by Creatives For a Change, Zero Waste UTM, UTMSU, and Greenwood. The theme of the night was “New Hope".
