Master of Science in Sustainability Management • University of Toronto Mississauga

Post-Graduate Certificate • Green Business Management • Seneca College

Bachelor of Arts • Urban Studies & Environmental Governance • University of Guelph

In 2013, Tyler graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Governance. Through his studies and a role on the Environmental Governance Executive Council, Tyler became interested in the ability of the private sector to mobilize resources to efficiently facilitate sustainable progress. Following his undergraduate degree, Tyler pursued his interest in sustainability in the Green Business Management post-graduate certificate program at Seneca College – where he specialized in developing eco-productivity initiatives that improved and balanced business’ triple bottom line.

In addition to his studies, Tyler has worked with the City of Markham Sustainability Office on a Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) – an initiative focused on accelerating the implementation of environmental improvements and urban renewal at the neighbourhood scale. His primary role in the SNAP initiative was to identify community retrofits opportunities and provide detailed research to the Sustainability Advisor; Tyler also took an interest in engaging and educating community and school groups about the benefits of sustainability.

Tyler’s interest in sustainability stems from his love for being outdoors. From back-country canoe trips during the summer, to snowboarding during the winter, he has a deep appreciation for the adventures of exploring nature. Tyler recently returned from his second season of working in a remote bush camp working as a tree planter – cumulatively, he has planted over 120,000 trees in the Gordon Cousins forest.
