Bachelor of Arts, Environmental Studies, Minors in Coastal Management and Biology • Eckerd College

  • Yosua is voted new incoming Vice President Social of MScSM Student Executive Council (MSEC) for the 2019-2020 academic year. Congratulations Yosua!

Yosua graduated from Eckerd College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and minors in Coastal Management and Biology. Not long after he started his undergraduate studies as a Marine Biology major, Yosua realized that environmental issues are far more complex than science and conservation. After taking classes called Green Design and Sustainable Management, Yosua decided to change his major and master the holistic approach of sustainability.

Post graduation, Yosua worked for TreeHouse.inc, a sustainable home-improvement start up out of Austin, TX. He started as a Home Advisor, generating leads for home energy efficiency projects as well as less toxic materials for home remodelling. Eight months in, Yosua was promoted to be a retail manager for the Dallas location, focusing his work on product training, personal growth, and customer satisfaction.

As a self-driven individual, Yosua hope to implement the knowledge and skills he obtained throughout his studies, primarily in trying change the linear business model in Indonesia. Although the country has shown positive economic growth, he foresees some potential challenges that may threaten Indonesia’s resources and culture. While much of his passion lies on the idea of sustainable development, he finds social enterprise to be a fascinating idea and hope to mature in this field.

During his down time, Yosua enjoys cycling, running, playing tennis, and having dinner parties with friends. He loves travelling to tropical areas around the world, especially exploring the less-developed islands in Indonesia. As PADI Divemaster, Yosua is a big proponent on educating new divers and local communities on basic conservation practices and diving etiquette.
