Bio

Jacob graduated from McGill University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He majored in Economics and completed a concentration in Strategic Management – Global Strategy. Through his major, Jacob had the opportunity to explore topics such as how to optimally manage natural resources, and how to examine policy decisions from the perspective of different stakeholder groups and through environmental, social and political lenses. Through his concentration, Jacob studied how to manage organizations more sustainably. Specifically, he focused on the application of circular economy principles for businesses in a variety of industries, as well as how to build and manage relationships between the private, public, and civil society sectors. The combination of each part of his degree has enabled him to utilize a diverse set of tools in order to take on complex problems. Outside of his studies, Jacob was a member of the Varsity Football team and the Varsity Council. These experiences were integral to the development of his approach to working with and leading teams.

Professionally, Jacob worked as a Consultant at Lumency where he consulted major Canadian brands in multiple business sectors around integrating ESG principles in partnership portfolios and pursuing values led partnerships that drove positive societal impacts ranging from increased education on electric vehicles to promoting diversity within the Canadian sport landscape. After his time at Lumency, Jacob joined Re_Generation as a Director to lead a team focused on the development of tools and resources to help students and young professionals who aim to integrate sustainability into their careers.

These experiences allowed Jacob to develop his ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships, while further refining his strength at tailoring his communication style to different audiences. Additionally, the nature of the roles required him to be able to work in fast-paced work environments and take on problems that were often steeped in ambiguity. This fostered his ability to think critically about the issues he was confronted with and take flexible approach to problem solving.

Jacob is passionate about solving complex problems that often reside at the intersection of the private, public, and civil society sectors. Through his career he aims to help organizations integrate circular economy principles into their business models and explore alternative economic paradigms that are designed to be distributive and regenerative in nature.

In his spare time, Jacob enjoys going to the gym, reading, watching movies, spending time at his family’s cottage, and trying out new coffee shops.
