Bio

Cayra graduated from the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, specializing in Entrepreneurship. As part of this program, Cayra also attended the Vienna University of Economics and Business in Austria through an international exchange. She graduated both with high distinction and a co-op designation, and self-directed her entrepreneurial studies to have a focus on sustainable business. She is particularly interested in sustainable business start-up strategy, leadership education surrounding sustainability principles, and social entrepreneurship as a way to positively impact social and physical environments. Cayra is a systems-thinker and loves to solve organizational and sustainability problems by understanding all sides of the story.

Throughout her degree, Cayra consistently sought out information about sustainability and was excited by the many intersections of the topic. She focused every project, elective, research paper, and volunteer opportunity on learning more about sustainability and ended her degree with an 8-month project of launching a non-profit organization with the goal to educate youth about sustainability leadership. After graduation, Cayra began working for an Indigenous social and environmental consulting firm, Two Worlds Consulting, as a Sustainable Development Analyst. This position was multi-faceted, as sustainability is, and covered operational strategy, human resources, business development, contract management, project management, and much more. This experience of working in all areas of the business in a sustainability-focused role was an incredible learning and growth opportunity. Cayra is extremely interested in the field of consulting and hopes to do sustainability coaching and consulting for businesses as she continues in her career.

In her personal time, Cayra loves to cook and bake, experimenting with new flavours and plant-based recipes. She is also passionate about dancing, travelling, and spending time with her big family – all considered massive privileges in her life.
