Are you passionate about physical activity and wellbeing? Looking to be more involved with the UTM Community? Join our new volunteer program: RAWC Squad! 

The RAWC Squad is a pilot volunteer program within the Department of Recreation, Athletics, & Wellness (DRAW)’s Communications unit. The goal of this program is to provide creative and interpersonal opportunities for students who are passionate about physical activity, wellness, and athletics.The program will consist of two volunteer types: photographers and student ambassadors.

Applications are open until September 30, 2026 or until all spots are successfully filled. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis - students are encouraged to apply early.


Benefits of Volunteering

  1. Develop public speaking and communication skills: This role will help you confidently initiate dialogue, answer inquiries, and utilize interpersonal communication skills to diverse student populations.
  2. Build your resume and portfolio: The roles are designed to develop transferrable skills that you can use to a wide range of jobs. For photographers, the photos you capture can be included in your personal portfolio. 
  3. Expand your professional & social network: Connect directly with like-minded peers who share a passion for fitness, wellness, and content creation. You will also build valuable working relationships with professional staff within DRAW.
  4. Earn Co-Curricular Record (CCR) Recognition: Upon completion of 40+ hours of volunteer work and mandatory written reflections, you will received Co-Curricular Record (CCR) notation (pending approval)
  5. Make a positive impact: Your role helps cultivate a welcoming and supportive environment at the RAWC. Whether it is through tabling, events, or social media content, you help us reinforce our mantra that every body is an Eagle.

Student Ambassador

Inspire your campus community, connect with peers, and champion wellness as a RAWC Squad Student Ambassador!

What you'll be doing:

  • Support outreach initiatives through tabling and event support.
  • Work with the Communications team to develop creative and engaging content.
  • Provide feedback on new/improved programming.

Photographer

Capture the energy, show off campus fitness in action, and build your photography portfolio with the RAWC Squad!

What you'll be doing:

  • Capture Intramural games and other sports events. 
  • Support scheduled photo/video shoots by the Communications team.
  • Edit your photos and share your work on DRAW's Flickr Account.

Who we're looking for: 

  • Full-time registered U of T student, ideally in their first or second year of studies. Upper-year students are encouraged to apply too!
  • Passionate about fitness, aquatics, and/or sports - you love physical activity in different forms.
  • Students looking to gain experience in student services and/or to build their creative portfolio.
