A: Our UTM Learn to Play Youth Sport program will focus on holistic development, physical literacy and creating long-term positive relationships with sport. We will strive to provide an engaging, supportive, inclusive sport environment to build confidence and empower youth through various sport offerings.

A: This program is open to the public within the desired age range that you will see advertised for each program on our website
A: We believe in providing participants with an exceptional and positive experience, so we recruit, screen (VSC background check mandatory),hire and train staff that have various sport and program teaching backgrounds.
A: Our instructors bring a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment so participants don’t have to worry or stress about not having played the sport before. We require a VSC Check and also provide (insert High Five credentials here) so our instructors have the most up to date and best in class training.
A: We will be offering the following for this Spring and Summer programming: Basketball, Volleyball, Floor Hockey, Indoor Baseball, Flag Football, Soccer and Pickleball
Program Registration
A: Registration is only available online on our recreation website here - Select the categories: “insert LTP here” and "University of Toronto Mississauga". For your best experience, please consider using a laptop or computer to register.
A: Typically registration begins 5-6 weeks before the start of the program at minimum. Dates are announced on our LTP Youth Sports website (insert weblink here) in advance of registration.
A: It is not possible to register someone else’s child for programs since during the online registration there are waivers that the legal parent/guardian must sign on their minor’s behalf, and sensitive information they must provide (ie. allergies, medical information or disability information).
Additionally, each child must be linked as a dependent on the parent/guardian's account to ensure that we have the most accurate information on file for any communications, or in case of an emergency.
Inclusion and Support
A: UTM Learn to Play Youth Sport Program strives to inspire youth to discover the joy of movement through a variety of sports, while building fundamental skills, confidence and a lifelong passion for active living.
At the time of registration, you will be asked if your child/youth has any medical conditions or any medically diagnosed disabilities that Sport staff should be aware of. If you answer “yes” to one of the questions, you will be sent additional documentation to fill out to complete your registration.
Participant Supervision
A: Our minimum ratio of staff members to participants is based on the age of the group.
- For groups where all participants are 6 years of age or older, 1 staff for every 8 participants. (1:8 ratio)
Photo & Video Policy
A: We want to ensure that everyone feels safe and is having fun while they are at UTM; We make every effort to avoid any participants being photographed or video recorded without their knowledge and parental/guardian consent. As such, the RAWC has a strict no photo/video policy in effect at all times to protect the privacy of all members - especially our youngest ones.
Refunds/Cancellations
A: Cancellation requests submitted prior to May 1 for Spring programming and June 15 for Summer programming will receive a full refund of the registration fee for the program(s) with no administrative fee applied to the refund.
After May 1 for Spring Program and June 15 for Summer programming, cancellation requests submitted at least 14 days prior to the first day of the program, will receive a refund with an administrative fee of 10% of the program registration fee applied to the refund.
After May 15, and June 30, refunds are not provided for Spring and Summer program cancellations.
Cancellation requests must be submitted to utm.eagles@utoronto.ca. Please include specific details such as: name (or names) of the participants to be withdrawn, phone number on registration account, and specific program name and date(s) to be cancelled.
Note: Refunds must be issued back to the same credit card used for purchase.
Age Restrictions
A: Detailed age restriction guidelines are listed below.
- Programs for participants 6-8 years of age. Child must be the required age (6 years, 0 months) and no older than 8 years, 6 months by the first day of the program session
Note: No exceptions will be made for minimum age requirements.
Program Hours
A: Regular drop off time can be up to 10 minutes prior to the start of your sport program session. We ask that participants get picked up no later than 10 minutes after the sport program session is completed.
For example, if your Sport program session is 10:30am-11:30am, participants can be dropped off starting at 10:20am and would be required to be picked up no later than 11:40am. Details on drop-off and pick-up procedures will be communicated via email shortly before the sport program starts.
