Always wanted to try a specific sport? Want to learn the fundamentals and be active on the UTM campus? Try the weekly Learn to Play program for a variety of sports. Sport Instructors will lead weekly sessions that will teach the basic fundamentals and rules of a sport. These sessions are designed for beginner level participants looking to fine tune their skills or those who are considering in trying a sport they never played before.

Learn to Play: Basketball

Ever wanted to learn the basic skills of Basketball or never had the chance to pick up this amazing sport? You have the chance now at UTM! This Winter, join in on the 4-week Learn to Play Basketball Lessons being offered by a skilled instructor in GYM C at the RAWC. This is a terrific opportunity to learn the basics of Basketball in a beginner friendly environment. Players will be introduced to the proper technique for Dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork and more.   

All equipment will be provided for each session.

Day of the Week: Friday
Time: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Duration/Commitment: January 24th to February 14th  
Location: Gym C

Learn to Play: Indoor Cricket

Ever wanted to learn the basic skills of Indoor Cricket or never had the chance to pick up this amazing sport? You have the chance now at UTM! This Winter, join in on the 4-week Learn to Play Indoor Cricket Lessons being offered by a skilled instructor in GYM A/B at the RAWC. This is a terrific opportunity to learn the basics of this sport in a beginner friendly environment. Players will be introduced to the proper technique for bowling, batting, defensive play and scoring.

All equipment will be provided for each session.

Day of Week: Friday
Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM 
Duration/Commitment: January 24th to February 14th  (4-week commitment)
Location: Gym A/B

Learn to Play: Squash

Ever wanted to learn the basic skills of Squash or never had the chance to pick up this amazing sport? You have the chance now at UTM! This Winter, join in on the 4-week Learn to Play Squash Lessons being offered by a skilled instructor at the UTM Squash Courts. This is a terrific opportunity to learn the basics of Squash in a beginner friendly environment. Players will be introduced to the proper technique for holding the racquet, serving, receiving and foot work.   

Don’t own a squash racquet? Don’t worry, we have you covered! All equipment will be provided for each session. UTM students with active memberships can participate in one of the following options:    

Option #1

Day of Week: Wednesday
Time: 5:15 PM - 6:45 PM
Duration/Commitment: January 22nd - February 12th 
Location: UTM Squash Courts


Option #2

Day of Week: Wednesday
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Duration/Commitment: January 22nd - February 12th

Learn to Play: Badminton

Ever wanted to learn the basic skills of Badminton or never had the chance to pick up this amazing sport? You have the chance now at UTM! This Winter, join in on the 4-week Learn to Play Badminton Lessons being offered by a skilled instructor in GYM C at the RAWC. This is a terrific opportunity to learn the basics of the sport in a beginner friendly environment. Players will be introduced to the proper technique for volleys, serves, forehand and backhand strokes.  

Don’t own a Badminton racquet? Don’t worry, we have you covered! Badminton racquets can be signed out at each session.

 

Day of Week: Tuesdays
Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM 
Duration/Commitment: January 21st - February 11th 
Location: Gym C

volleyball

Learn to Play: Volleyball

Ever wanted to learn the basic skills of Volleyball or never had the chance to pick up this amazing sport? You have the chance now at UTM! This Winter, join in on the 4-week Learn to Play Volleyball Lessons being offered by a skilled instructor in GYM A/B at the RAWC. This is a terrific opportunity to learn the basics of Volleyball in a beginner friendly environment. Players will be introduced to the proper technique for bumping, volleying, serving, and foot work.   

All equipment will be provided for each session.

Time: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Duration/Commitment: January 20th - February 10th
