UTM Outdoor Adventures invite students to take part in exciting, skill-building trips and excursions that offer a change of pace from everyday campus life. Whether it’s hiking scenic trails, tackling an indoor climbing wall, or horseback riding, these experiences are designed to help you try something new, challenge yourself, and connect with others. Step beyond your routine, discover new activities, and create unforgettable memories along the way.
All our trips include:
- Bus transportation from UTM, often departing in the morning and returning late afternoon
- Instructions, guidance and support from experts and UTM Moves staff
- All necessary gear and equipment
For the 2025/26 year, we will be offering the following trips:
UTM Ascends: Treetop Trekking Adventure
- Date: Saturday, September 27, 2025
- Time: 9:45 am – 4 pm
- Location: Heart Lake Conservation Park - 10818 Heart Lake Rd, Brampton, ON L6Z 0B3
- Open to: UTM students
- Participant fee: Early Bird - $25, Regular - $45
Climb, zip, and soar through the forest canopy at Heart Lake Conservation Park! This guided aerial game trek includes zip lines, obstacle courses, and high ropes challenges. Transportation from UTM is provided — just bring lunch, wear closed-toe shoes and get ready for an unforgettable adventure!
UTM Goes Forestbathing: Nature Immersion Adventure
- Date: Friday, October 10, 2025
- Time: 11 am – 1 pm & 2 – 4 pm
- Location: Erindale Park (Meet at the RAWC Lobby. We will depart to Erindale Park as a group no later than 10 minutes past the hour.)
- Open to: UTM students, staff, faculty, and librarians
- Participant fee: Free
Step into stillness and reconnect with nature through a guided forest bathing experience inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku. This mindful walk invites you to slow down, reflect, and honour your wellbeing during World Mental Health Day. Plus, enjoy light refreshments during the excursion!
MoveU Refresh & Recharge: Tri-Campus Hart House Farm Trip

Escape the books with a daytrip to experience caving, cider making, archery, s'mores and more! This getaway is all about having fun, making friends, and enjoying nature's beauty with peers from across all three UofT campuses. Lunch & bus transportation are included.
UTM Rides: Horseback Riding Adventure
- Date: Saturday, November 8, 2025
- Time: 9:45 am – 4 pm
- Location: Fallbrook Trail Ranch - 14097 Ninth Line, Georgetown, ON L7G4S8
- Open to: UTM students
- Participant fee: Early Bird - $80, Regular - $100
Saddle up for a guided trail ride and country escape at Fallbrook Trail Ranch. Enjoy a 1-hour horseback ride plus fun activities like pickleball and a hayride. Bus transportation from UTM is included. Open to all skill levels — just bring lunch, wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, and get ready to ride!
UTM Climbs: Rock Climbing Adventure
- Date: Saturday, January 17, 2026
- Time: 9:45 am – 3 pm
- Location: Hub Climbing Mississauga - 3636 Hawkestone Rd, Mississauga, ON L5C 2V2
- Open to: UTM students
- Participant fee: Early Bird - $30, Regular - $50
Challenge yourself with a full-day indoor climbing adventure at Hub Climbing Mississauga!
Perfect for beginners and experienced climbers alike. Includes orientation, rentals, and bus transportation. Registration required — come climb at your own pace!
Important notes:
- Open to registered UTM students only, unless otherwise stated.
- Register early as spots are limited per trip.
- All fitness and experience levels are welcome.
- Each trip has a different participant fee, which must be paid when registering. This fee covers instruction, equipment and transportation from and to UTM. Please refer to the specific event webpage to view fee information.
- Each trip has a different difficulty rating based on our Event Rating System. Please refer to the specific event webpage to view rating information.
- Some trips have certain eligibility requirements (e.g., height, weight, ability, etc.). Please ensure to check these prior to registering.
- Wear and/or bring any activity-specific attire and footwear, as required.
- Bring your own lunch, snacks, a reusable water bottle, and any personal items (e.g., medications, mobility aids).
- Bring a backpack or small bag.
- Apply sunscreen and/or bug spray if needed for outdoor activities.
- Check the weather forecast and any event updates (@utm_athletics on Instagram).
- Arrive at the RAWC Lobby at least 15 minutes early to ensure an on-time bus departure. Upon arrival, please check in with a UTM Moves Crew Member wearing an orange uniform.
- Complete and submit the required waivers — including the RAWC waiver, the vendor’s waiver, and the photo/video consent form — prior to the event.
Event Weather Policy:
Many of our trips feature outdoor components, which may be affected by weather conditions. In the event of rain, snow, or other inclement weather that could impact safety or comfort, the event may be modified, delayed, or cancelled. Any weather-related updates will be shared by email and posted on Instagram (@utm_athletics) at least one hour before the scheduled start time. We encourage participants to check for updates before arriving and to dress appropriately for the weather.
Waitlist Policy:
As our trips have limited capacity, we recommend early registration to secure your spot. If the event is full, you can join the waitlist through the registration form. Should a spot become available, waitlisted participants will be contacted in the order they signed up. Please keep an eye on your email and respond promptly to secure your spot.
Cancellation Policy:

If an event is cancelled by the organizer(s) due to extenuating circumstances (e.g., severe weather, illness, minimum registration not being met), we will attempt to reschedule or will contact registrants to arrange a full refund.

To help participants choose the right experience, each UTM Moves event includes a difficulty rating from 1 to 4. This scale reflects the level of physical activity involved and any mobility considerations, so you can participate with confidence.

LEVEL 1 – LOW
This event involves minimal to no physical activity. It’s open to all and accessible for participants of all mobility levels.
LEVEL 2 – MILD
This event includes light physical activity, such as walking short distances, moving over small inclines, or carrying lightweight items. Suitable for most fitness and mobility levels.
LEVEL 3 – MODERATE
This event includes moderate physical effort that may raise your heart rate. It may involve uneven terrain, longer walking distances, or activities that require some body awareness and balance.
LEVEL 4 – HIGH
This event involves higher physical demands – such as heights, water elements, small spaces, or faster-paced movement. Participants should be comfortable navigating physical challenges and have the ability to move and balance with control.
