Overview:

Discover the transformative power of martial arts at UTM Powers Up, a beginner-friendly wellness workshop facilitated by Sensei Rob Castro of Kaizen Martial Arts. Guided by the principles of respect, perseverance, and self-discipline, this session explores how martial arts can empower both your body and mind.

Schedule:

  • 12 PM – 1 PM: Introductory Workshop (learn basic moves, techniques, and self-discipline through movement)
  • 1 PM – 2 PM: Talk + Networking (connect with others and reflect on lessons in wellness, focus, and personal growth)

Participants will practice foundational techniques – such as punches, kicks, and takedowns – while learning how these movements can enhance everyday wellness routines and build resilience.

Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or looking to grow through mindful movement, this experience is designed for everyone. No prior martial arts experience is required – just come ready to learn, grow, and move!

About the Facilitator:

Kaizen Martial Arts is a Brampton-based dojo founded by Sensei Rui Castro and his son, Sensei Rob Castro. Guided by the philosophy of Kaizen – meaning continuous improvement – the dojo emphasizes the development of both physical skill and personal character through self-discipline, perseverance, and respect.

Rather than adhering to one specific style, Kaizen Martial Arts blends techniques from various martial arts traditions, creating a unique and practical approach focused on self-defence, fitness, and personal growth. Their mission is to help individuals build strength, integrity, and confidence – on and off the mat.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and indoor, closed-toe shoes.
