Recreation, Athletic & Wellness Centre (RAWC)

Opened in 2006, the Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre (RAWC) is a state-of-the-art athletic facilitity, providing multiple spaces for various forms of sport, fitness and recreational activities. In addition to the RAWC spaces and amenities open to all student, staff, faculty and community members, our facilities are also available for external and internal rentals.

RAWC Facilities

See below list of facilities and spaces at the RAWC for rental:

  • Fitness Centre – our two-story fitness centre features cardio and strength training equipment, including a section that can be visually isolated for women's only fitness hours. The space is also equipped with a three-lane, 200 m running track.
  • High Performance Centre – eight platforms with Hammerstrength half-racks, benches, rubber bumper plates, plyo boxes and other sport specific conditioning equipment.
  • Fields/ Outdoor Courts – two mutli-sport grass fields, beach volleyball courts, and two outdoor tennis courts.
  • Gymnasiums – two multi-sport gymnasiums: Gym C and Gym A/B, which features a double-gym that can be divided into two full-size single gyms.
  • Pool – a 25 metre, eight-lane Myrtha pool with movable bulkhead and depth adjustable floor.
  • Dance Studio – a dance studio complete with mirrored walls, wooden floor and dance barre.
  • Fitness Studio – overlooking Gym AB, the fitness studio is located in the Fitness Centre, equipped with a mondo sport floor and spinning bikes.
  • Multi-Purpose Rooms – subdivided into two rooms: Multipurpose Room A is 36 x 55 feet or 1980 square feet and Multipurpose Room B is 24 x 55 feet or 864 square feet. Room A is used primarily for Martial Arts and Room B houses our Table Tennis tables.
  • Squash Courts - One North American sized squash court and two international courts

Changerooms

The RAWC has three changerooms availble to members: Male, Female, and a Privacy/ All Gender changeroom. All three changerooms have showers, washrooms, and both day and rental lockers. All three changerooms also have direct access to the pool deck and privacy cubicles for changing.

The Privacy/ All-Gender Changeroom is exclusively for people with privacy and/ or accessibility needs or concerns and families with small children. We ask all other members to use the gender appropriate changerooms. Please note that nudity is prohibited outside of the privacy cubicles, as both small children and males and females communally change here.

Rentals

Spaces within the RAWC are not available for rent at the current time. Please check back here for updates and information on rentals to student groups, internal UTM departments and external rentals in the future.
