Why is She Moves open to female-identifying/women-only students?

Female-identifying/Women’s-only programming is a targeted needs-based approach designed to ensure equitable participation in physical activity. This approach is aligned with University policies, guidelines and statements on equity, diversity and excellence.

While female-identifying/female students currently constitute over half of U of T’s student body, they continue to be under-represented in most forms of physical activity. Our usage statistics show that while female participation in particular facility spaces is low during regular hours, it increases notably during times scheduled for women’s only. Female- identifying/Women's only programming, such as this event, is therefore one of several strategies implemented by the Department to optimize participation, reduce barriers to being active, and foster inclusivity across culture, religion and ability level.

The Department of Recreation, Athletics & Wellness strives to create and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, atmosphere for all students and members in all our facilities. Female- identifying/Women's only programming reflects the mission of the Department and its commitment to the provision of opportunity.

If I do not identify as a female, how/where else can I participate at the RAWC?

The RAWC offers a variety of fitness and recreational programming to meet your needs, interests, and goals, including: group fitness, drop-in sports, personal training, the fitness centre, and much more! The majority of the offerings are open to all students. Moreover, She Moves is only running for 3 hours total, so Gym A/B will resume its regular schedule after the event.

How can I win Apple Airpods?

The first 50 students who preregistered and complete two (2) 20-min activities during the event, will be entered t into a draw for Apple Airpods. We will announce the winner in about 1 week’s time.

How can I receive a free UTM Moves Swag Bag*?

Simply complete two (2) 20-min activities during the event, and drop off your passport at the registration desk, to receive your UTM Moves Swag Bag.
