Frequently Asked Questions
Spend your first year exploring what inspires you the most. We're here to help and guide you every step of the way.
The course is full! What should I do?
If it is a required course, please join the waitlist.
If you're interested in an elective course, you can decide to add yourself to the waitlist, check if the course is offered in a different term, or enrol into different course that has spaces available.
Should I add both Fall AND Winter courses?
Yes! When your start time begins, you are enrolling in courses for the upcoming year. Use the Timetable to determine if the course is offered in the fall (F course), winter (S course), or if it is offered as a full-year course (Y).
What is a waitlist, and how does it work?
A waitlist on ACORN is a virtual line up that you can join if a course is full. If a space becomes available, ACORN will automatically enrol you if you are next on the list.
Once you're on a waitlist, please be patient over the summer. Sometimes you can move off the waitlist quickly, but sometimes it can take a little longer. We see a lot of change in late August and aim to help you settle into your course schedule as best as we can!
Waitlists let us know how many students are interested in a course, and helps us determine whether we can open additional spaces.
Do I need to enrol in a tutorial or practical?
If the course requires a tutorial and/or practical, yes!
When you enrol in a course on ACORN, or view it on the Timetable Builder, you will be able to see what your course requires. If tutorials and/or practicals are required, enrol into the appropriate ones.
I am on a waitlist and cannot add more courses.
ACORN will accept a maximum of 2.5 credits in each term (or 5.0 credits total). On July 22 at 6:00am (ET), that limit will increase to 3.0 credits (or 6.0 credits total).
If you have waitlisted for the maximum number of credits, and need additional courses, you can decide to stay on the waitlist or remove yourself from a course you no longer want/need to take. Doing so will allow you to add a course with available space.
I enrolled in all my courses. What's next?
Secure your spot in the courses you chose by either paying or deferring your fees by August 18.
Once your status on ACORN changes from invited to registered, you're all set for September!
