FAQ Fridays with Academic Advising

Virtual drop-in office hours with Academic Advisors. This is a perfect way to connect no matter where you are. Drop in for 5 minutes, or stay for the full 1.5 hours.

Ask a Student

Connect with upper-year students through weekly drop-in sessions to explore campus resources, navigate academic tools, and gain insights from the experiences of your peers.

In-person sessions will be held every Tuesday and online sessions will be drop-ins on Zoom every Thursday (no registration required).

During this interactive webinar you will learn about choosing your program of study (POSt), covering topics such as:

  • What is a specialist, major, and minor?
  • The difference between Type 1, 2, and 3 programs
  • Program request periods
  • The connection between your program and career interests 

The session is offered jointly by the Office of the Registrar and the Career Centre.

Have you recently been placed on probation or suspension? Do you think you are at risk of probation? This workshop is designed to help you understand what it means and what you need to do to get back to good standing. Join an academic advisor and a learning strategist to discuss:

  • Grades and GPA and how to improve them
  • Policies and rules related to academic standing
  • Smart academic planning
  • Promoting Academic Skills Program (PASS) for UTM students academically at risk
