Bursaries of Academic Experiences

UTM Academic Dean’s UTM Abroad Bursaries

  • These bursaries are offered based on the generous contribution of the UTM Academic Dean's office and are available as follows:
    • Every participating UTM undergraduate student enrolled in the corresponding UTM Abroad Course will receive a $500 bursary;
    • Additional bursaries will be awarded based on the participant's demonstrated level of financial need (not tied to OSAP) as shown in the financial need section of the UTM Abroad application.
  • While we make every effort to support participation of as many students as possible, funding is limited so please ensure that your funding application is accurate and requests are submitted only as needed;
  • UTM Abroad bursaries are available for all UTM Abroad Courses;
  • Bursary amounts vary depending on financial need;
  • Bursary awards will be reviewed by the UTM Abroad bursary committee and will be communicated to participants prior to the second instalment deadline;
  • Bursary funds will be deposited directly into the applicant's ACORN account approximately six weeks after the award date;
  • The UTM Abroad Funding Application must be submitted at the time of application and must be submitted by the application deadline. 

Residence Experience Bursaries

  • The department of Student Housing & Residence Life values co-curricular learning experiences for students during their time in University and has bursaries available for residence students participating in the UTM Abroad program;
  • These bursaries are offered directly by Student Housing & Residence Life and are only available to students living in residence;
  • Applications must be submitted directly to the department and will be reviewed at their discretion;

Bursaries for Glocal Impact Projects

Residence Experience Bursaries

  • The department of Student Housing & Residence Life values co-curricular learning experiences for students during their time in University and has bursaries available for residence students participating in the UTM Abroad program;
  • These bursaries are offered directly by Student Housing & Residence Life and are only available to students living in residence;
  • Applications must be submitted directly to the department and will be reviewed at their discretion;

UTM Abroad GIP Bursaries

  • total of $2000 is available to distribute between all qualifying students for Spring 2019 locations (Guatemala & Thailand).
  • Students are welcome to fill out a bursary application within the GIP program application.

UTM Abroad Student Leader Bursary

  • This bursary is only available for the GIP: Guatemala: Fair Trade and Social Justice.
  • To apply you must be a student currently employed by Student Housing and Residence Life, Centre for Student Engagement or the International Education Centre.
  • Each department will allocate four burasaries of $500 to the applicants that display the most potential for growth and impact upon the UTM community as a whole.
