The following resources and supports are available to all students participating in Global Learning at UTM.
Outbound Support
Pre-Departure
- Book a Global Learning Advising Appointment to discuss;
- What opportunities are available & what best suits your needs
- How to apply for global learning
- Finances and funding your international experience
- Preparing for an international experience, including connecting you to program alumni to learn more about their experience
- Meet with the Student Development Coordinator, Intercultural programs to develop your intercultural competence
- Complete an Intercultural Development Inventory assessment with one of our IDI Qualified Administrators
- Participation in on-campus and/or virtual intercultural offerings
- International students can consult with a certified immigration advisor about any upcoming international experiences
During the Experience
- Connect with a Global Mobility Coordinator for support with your international experience
- Our office will connect you with program-specific safety supports as applicable
After the Experience
- Connect with a Global Mobility Coordinator to reflect on your global learning experience
- Book an appointment for employment advising tailored to students who have participated in an international experience.
- Unpack your intercultural development through reflection with the SDC intercultural programs
Additional program-specific pre-departure and post-trip supports are also offered through our office for UTM abroad and exchange.
Inbound Support

- Enrolling in courses at UTM
- Connecting with campus services like Residence, RGASC, OR etc.
- Meet with the Student Development Coordinator, Intercultural programs to develop your intercultural competence
- Complete an Intercultural Development Inventory assessment with one of our IDI Qualified Administrators
- Participate in on-campus and/or virtual intercultural offerings
- Consult with a certified immigration advisor about immigration matters related to coming to Canada
During the Experience
- Participate in welcome sessions and advising to adapt to campus
- Our Global Mobility Coordinator will be your point person throughout your global learning experience
- Access to various on-campus international & intercultural programs
- Connection point to access clubs, programs & services on campus
- Support navigating UTM systems
After the Experience
