The Course
EDS388 • Experiential Learning Opportunity within the Community
This internship is a minimum 100-hour experiential learning opportunity. The internship connects the student's subject specialization to aspects of the teaching/training development profession. It will integrate, extend, and deepen the learning experience as students begin to identify particular academic or professional insights. Prior to enrollment, internship proposals must be approved by the program coordinator. As part of this course, students may have the option of participating in an international learning experience that will have an additional cost and application process.
Exclusions: CTE388H5 or CTE388Y5
Recommended Preparation: EDS200H5 and EDS210H5 and EDS220H5 and EDS300H5 (may be taken as a co-requisite). Learn more here.
The Trip: Portugal
Approximate Travel Dates: Thursday, May 25, 2023 - Sunday, June 4, 2023

On this all-inclusive, interactive trip to Lisbon, with a visit to Porto, you will have the opportunity to attend a conference hosted by the Instituto de Educação (IE) from the Universidade de Lisboa, engage with education experts in and out of the classroom, and connect with undergraduate students. All this while forming lifelong bonds with your classmates and Professor Elizabeth Coulson. Spend 10 amazing days traveling through Portugal, exploring education, and enjoying the rich culture this country has to offer.

Payments
Estimated cost of International Component: CAD $3,900.00 - 4,200.00
What is Included: Flights, transportation, accommodation, meals, in-country activities associated with the course, and trip-cancellation insurance. Funding Available!
What is NOT Included: Course fees, fees associated with supplemental travel insurance, additional optional tours/activities while abroad, visa applications, medical exams, vaccinations, and any other additional costs.

Need To Know
- The cost and itinerary are subject to change.
- Students must be enrolled in EDS388 at the time of participation and will be required to abide by the corresponding UTM Abroad application requirements and deadlines to participate in the international experience.
- Fees must be paid in full by the required deadlines.
- To prepare for the trip, students attending will participate in mandatory pre-departure and safety abroad sessions.
