The University of Toronto Mississauga Abroad Program (UTM Abroad) provides students, with the support of staff and faculty, with the chance to participate in a short term experiential learning opportunity abroad during the fall or winter break or right after the end of classes in April.

The program is open to all students and consists of two components: UTM Abroad Academic Experiences and UTM Abroad Co-Curricular Experiences.

UTM Abroad Academic Experiences

Learn about the anthropology of gender in Tanzania, expand your knowledge of Italian Cuisine and the history of Italian food in Italy, recognize the impact of one of the world's worst genocides in contemporary times in Germany and Poland, and much more while earning academic credit toward your degree!

UTM Abroad Courses are traditional courses offered by UTM academic departments during the regular academic year, with an embedded global experience over the fall/winter break period or during the summer in partnership with the International Education Centre.

These courses offer you a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of course material by travelling to a location related to the subject matter, while maintaining your normal semester structure. In many cases, financial aid is available to help with the costs of travel and accommodation.

UTM Abroad Co-Curricular Experiences

Learn about Fair Trade Coffee in Guatemala, explore traditional medicine and the health care system in Peru, or discover Voluntourism in Thailand!

The UTM Abroad Co-Curricular Experiences allow you to participate in short term international experiences where you travel with intention, engage with communities around the world and have a positive impact on the places you visit. The experiences take place during the fall/winter break or right after the end of classes in April/May and are recognized on the Co-Curricular Record.

The 2017-18 initiatives in Peru, Guatemala and Thailand are now closed. New opportunities will be available in September 2018.
