Leadership Positions 

Eagle Connect, Squad Leader  

The EagleConnect Squad Leader is responsible for leading and delivering EagleConnect programming, which supports new students during their transition to UTM. Squad Leaders will be responsible for planning and implementing weekly EagleConnect content, overseeing communities of students, providing support to these students in one-to-one and small group formats, and supporting programming and events (in-person and virtual) throughout the summer. In addition to working independently, Squad Leaders will work collaboratively with a team of other Squad Leaders and CSE student staff, as well as partners across campus in planning and supporting.

Orientation Leader 

The Orientation Leader will work with two other leads to help design, plan and implement the New Student Orientation for the summer 2024. Each member of the team will be responsible for achieving different goals and developing activities to contribute to new-to-UTM students’ transitional programming. The team prepares for all aspects of Orientation and is a collaborative venture in which staff are able to experience a wide range of learning opportunities, and can see their vision come to life.

Team Lead, Access 

The Team Lead, Access Programs, will work in collaboration with a diverse team with a focus on dismantling access barriers to education. Working closely with internal and external partners, the role centers on developing and implementing initiatives that address systemic challenges faced by historically underserved communities. Through community partnerships, the team supports a variety of students from multiple lived experiences and backgrounds in navigating educational pathways, ensuring inclusive programming, and fostering growth in initiatives like SEE @ UTM and Bridging Pathways Mentorship Program, and Access days.

Team Lead, ARW & Civic

The Team Lead, Alternative Reading Week & Civic Engagement is responsible for overseeing the leadership of Alternative Reading Week & Civic Engagement programming. Alternative Reading Week is a short-term opportunity to engage in volunteering with community partners over the winter reading week & Civic Engagement programming encourages students to engage with collective concerns and priorities for their community through programs like the City Where We Live: Policy Challenge. This role focuses primarily on curriculum improvements & training development in the summer, and team leadership & project management in the fall/winter.

Team Lead, CCR

The Team Lead, Co-Curricular Record oversees the overall growth, processes, and promotion of UTM’s Co-Curricular Record (CCR). They are responsible for supporting the visibility of the UTM’s CCR through the development of promotional and marketing plans, an assessment strategy, and training materials, all whilst emphasizing the benefits of the CCR for student organizations and student events. The Team Lead, Co-Curricular Record trains, supports, and leads a team of CCR Assistants whose role is to support student groups and individual students, in receiving CCR recognition by ensuring that they follow the appropriate steps to have their opportunity visible and added to our CCR Platform.

Team Lead, Communications

The Team Lead for communications is responsible for the planning and designing marketing materials for the CSE's various initiatives. The Team Lead, Communications will oversee the social media management of the Centre’s various channels and play a large role in ensuring the department and University branding guidelines are being met. The Team Lead will also plays a large role in the leadership of the team through the facilitation of training and project management.

Team Lead, Community Mentorship

The Team Lead, Community Mentorship leads and supports the student staff teams delivering Community and Alumni Mentorship programming. The Team Lead role will provide leadership, project management, training, curriculum, logistics, and assessment support for all program areas. This portfolio works in-particular with community and internal UTM partners during the summer, fall and winter terms, so organization, communication, collaboration and teamwork skills are key to this role.

Team Lead, Community Youth Programs

The Team Lead, Community Youth Program leads and supports the student staff teams delivering Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) Initiatives. The Team Lead role will provide leadership, project management, training, curriculum, logistics, and assessment support for STEAM Mentorship Academy and STEAM Days programs. This portfolio works with external and internal UTM community partners during the summer, fall, and winter terms, so organization, communication, collaboration and teamwork skills are key to this role.

Team Lead, Engagement Events

The Team Lead, Engagement Events supports student engagement, academic initiative, and outreach-focused events during the academic year. A wide range of small-to-large scale events include Orientation, Exam Jam, Engaging Faculty Events, and representation of CSE at outreach events. This support includes the development, planning, preparation of events and the staffing of activities to enhance the student experience. The events team partners with various campus departments, staff and faculty at UTM.

Team Lead, Inclusion

The Team Lead, Inclusion spearheads collaborative efforts with a dynamic team to champion Inclusion initiatives at the Centre for Student Engagement. Focused on first-year students, and cultivating a sense of belonging and community on campus the role involves liaising with community/campus partners and stakeholders, student groups, upper year students, as well as managing project timelines, outreach, and supporting the development of programs and events that foster a campus-wide sense of belonging. Key programs include Inclusion Initiatives, First year events, Engaging Faculty events, strategic Campus partnerships, Participation with Exam Jam and Excellence Orientations, and winter welcome orientation activities.

The Team Lead, LAUNCH supports the LAUNCH Program alongside a small team of Team Leads, LAUNCH. This role provides team support, assists with training and curriculum development, and supports planning and implementation of LAUNCH programming.

Team Lead, LAUNCH (Summer, Fall & Winter)

The Team Lead, LAUNCH supports the LAUNCH Program alongside a small team of Team Leads, LAUNCH. In the summer semester, the Team Lead, LAUNCH assists the Student Engagement Coordinator, Transition Programs prepare for the LAUNCH program in the upcoming semester, including performing administrative tasks, promoting LAUNCH, providing team support, and assisting with training and curriculum development.

Team Lead, Leadership

The Team Lead, Leadership supports the project management of leadership programs at the CSE which include workshops, leadership events, and long-term leadership opportunities. The Team Lead, Leadership is responsible for reviewing, redeveloping, planning, and facilitating leadership initiatives. During the Fall/Winter term, the Team Lead, Leadership assists in training and supporting a team of student staff in delivering leadership programming.

Team Lead, Mentorship

The Team Lead, Mentorship supports the project management of mentorship programming which includes workshops, social events and one-on-one mentorship opportunities with current undergraduate students. The Team Lead, Mentorship is responsible for reviewing and preparing programming for the 2024-2025 year which includes re-developing program curriculum as well as supporting the creation of further mentorship opportunities. Also, during the Fall/Winter term, the Team Lead, Mentorship trains and leads a team of student staff in delivering mentorship programming.

Team Lead, PFSO & LAUNCH (Summer, Fall & Winter)

The Team Lead, Parents, Families, and Supporters (PFS) & LAUNCH supports the Parents, Families, & Supporters program in the spring/summer semester as well as the LAUNCH Program in the fall and winter semesters. In the summer, this role supports the planning and implementation of initiatives, mainly the Parents, Families, and Supporters Orientation. In the fall and winter semesters, this works alongside a small team of Team Leads, LAUNCH to support the LAUNCH program.

Team Lead, Social Innovation

The Team Lead, Social Innovation Projects is responsible for overseeing the leadership of the Social Innovation Projects. Social Innovation Projects pair a team of student volunteers with a community organization to tackle a challenge presented by the community organization over a 16-week period. The Team Lead, Social Innovation Projects focuses primarily on curriculum improvements & training development in the summer, and team leadership & project management in the fall/winter.

Team Lead, Student Groups & Interfaith

The Team Leader, Student Groups and Interfaith, will develop materials and content to support over 150 student groups and societies. This includes starting a new student organization, training, developing and delivering OrgLife Lead skill-development sessions, and recognition for impact on the UTM community. The Team Lead will also assist with Interfaith programming, which aims to teach students about the many faith and spirit-based supports on campus, along with opportunities to engage with students from diverse beliefs.

Team Lead, Student Program Support

The Team Leader is responsible for planning and implementing initiatives, which support new students during their transition to and during their first year at UTM, with a significant focus on EagleConnect and program planning events. The Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the update and improvement of EagleConnect content, the New Student Newsletter and supporting the planning, implementation and facilitation of program planning support events. Working independently as well as collaborating with other CSE student staff and campus partners, the team lead will contribute to the communication and promotional materials for these programs.

Team Lead, Transition Coaching

The Team Lead, Transition Coaching assists in the planning and implementation of the Transition Coaching Program. This role will lead a team of Transition Coaching Assistants in developing coaching skills, the development of workshops for students, and provide 1-on-1 coaching appointments to students as well.
