Student Program Planning Interactive Exhibition (SPPIE)

Student Program Planning Interactive Exhibition 2024. Friday March 8 from 10 AM to 2 PM in the RAWC Gym A/B. Support event for academic program exploration, selection, and enrollment. Brought to you by the Centre for Student Engagement, Career Centre, and Office of the Registrar.

Date: Friday, March 8, 2024 
Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM   (Alumni Café 11:00 AM- 2:00PM)
Location: RAWC GYM A/B (Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre)
How to Attend: No pre-registration required. Simply check-in at the Gym Entrance.

SPPIE is a drop-in event for students selecting their Programs of Study (POSt) this spring. 

  • Explore your program of study (POSt) options with the Office of the Registrar, Career Centre, the Centre for Student Engagement, and other experts! 
  • Enter an open space to ask questions about program selection, network and get advice from campus professionals, academic department representatives, and U of T Alumni!
  • Feel more confident in choosing the best program(s) for you!


What to Expect

SPPIE is a curated walkthrough that takes you to 5 different stations that help you understand the POSt enrolment process while helping you figure out your academic program plans:

Advising &
Applying

Identify personal and academic abilities, interests, goals, and values through discussions with campus partners, quizzes, worksheets, reflection activities, and online resources.Meet with department representatives (academic advisors, faculty, upper year students, etc.) to learn about the specific programs that are best aligned with your abilities, interests, goals, and values.Become familiar with program and degree policies and requirements, course enrollment, and adjustment.Meet former UTM students in the Alumni Café and learn from their experiences in specific programs, related careers, and life after graduation.Attend a group advising and FAQ station to learn about program selection, deferrals, advancement, financial aid and more.

Tips for SPPIE

  • You will be given a workbook before you embark on your SPPIE walkthrough. Use this to maximize your experience and have impactful conversations!
  • Prepare a list of questions or concerns you have around POSt or program selection, as you'll get to ask these to our academic advisors, career counsellers, and academic department representatives.
  • Consider having questions for our Alumni, who have also gone through the POSt system before!
  • Be open-minded, curious, and excited to meet people who want to support you!
  • Need help on event day? Reach out to our CSE student staff in yellow shirts!

Preparing for Program Selection: Pathways to Programs - November 15, 2023. Learn how to get into your POSt and explore your options. Brought to you by the UTM Centre for Student Engagement, Office of the Registrar, and the Career Centre.

As you approach the end of your first semester, you may experience some curiosity about what you want to study throughout the rest of your undergraduate journey. Pathways to Programs (P2P) can help you explore your burning questions and set you up for success come March when you apply for your POSt. This event is hosted by the Office of the Registrar, Career Centre and the Centre for Student Engagement.

What to Expect

Transition coaches can share their POSt experiences and help you plan a valuable university experience in and out of the classroom.

The Office of the Registrar will help you understand the POSt system and help you determine ideal programs.

Program Selection Workshops

10 AM & 2 PM - room KN108

Learn how to choose your programs, the difference between Type 1, 2 and 3 programs, when to request your programs, and tips on how to make the most out of your CGPA. We will also explore the connection between your program and career interests.

**Private appointments with Academic Advisors and Career Counsellors will not be available at Pathways to Programs. Click on the respective links to arrange a meeting with the appropiate services.

You do not need to register for this event. Drop by the Kaneff Rotunda (in front of the Registrar's front desk) anytime from 10 AM - 3 PM. You will be greeted at our check-in tables where you will complete an attendance form.
