Are you a current, enthusiastic University of Toronto Mississauga student? Join us this summer as a Student Ambassador and represent your campus to future UTM students.

As a Student Ambassador, you will be responsible for positively representing University of Toronto Mississauga and the University of Toronto, by communicating with both prospective and admitted students and their families. This includes leading campus tours, managing our social media accounts, assisting with the planning and preparation of recruitment events, and sharing your experiences to show what made you choose UTM.

Student Ambassador, Team Lead

The Student Ambassador, Team Lead (1 Vacancy) will contribute to the planning and execution of student ambassador programming, training and volunteering opportunities, for the University of Toronto Mississauga's ambassadors and volunteers.

Projects include:

  • Creating and implementing student programming opportunities for University of Toronto Mississauga student ambassadors and volunteers
  • Offering unique programming that will increase volunteer participation at recruitment events, provide exclusive learning opportunities to the ambassadors and volunteers, build community within the team, and overall increase to student volunteer base
  • Participate in webinars and other prospective engagement activities
  • Maintain and develop training materials for all student staff that will increase recruitment initiatives and enhance student profiles for story telling purposes.

Student Ambassador, Outreach

The Student Ambassador, Outreach (2 Vacancies), will contribute to the social media communications strategy (through Instagram, TikTok, Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, etc.), helping to develop student-oriented content that is unique and speaks to the campus identity. They will assist and contribute to the development of programming and execution of recruitment activities for prospective students and families through events and social media support.

They will develop and produce influential digital content that will support departmental conversion efforts, informing the offer of admission decision-making process for prospective students. This Student Ambassador is a self-starter and will have strong organizational and presentation skills along with fluency and comfort with vlogging and being on camera.

Projects include:

  • Developing and implementing a program plan for the academic year to connect with domestic and international prospective students
  • Developing a livestream communication plan within social media, aligned with all campus events throughout the year
  • Providing a student perspective interacting with prospective student engagement activities through webinars, online events, and virtual outreach initiatives.
  • Contributing to the continued development, enhancement, and delivery of student blogs, by connecting and engaging with current students to share their experiences at UTM.
  • Assisting in the development of innovative prospective student social media campaigns by leveraging current students, alumni, staff and faculty network(s) for yield and conversion.
  • Assisting with feedback collection processes to revamp UTMFuture website in collaboration with the Manager, Student Recruitment and Communications

Student Ambassador, Campus Events

The Student Ambassador, Campus Events (2 Vacancies) will contribute to the planning, preparation and execution of recruitment events. The individual selected will also participate in the development of an annual report and gather and analyze feedback from stakeholders for all events, providing critical feedback for future campus events.

The Student Ambassador, Campus Events positively represents the University of Toronto and the University of Toronto Mississauga by communicating and engaging with prospective and admitted students and their families. When the university reopens, the Student Ambassador is responsible for leading campus tours, assisting with the planning and preparation of recruitment events and providing customer service.

Projects include:

  • Assisting with the planning and development of all recruitment events throughout the year, such as: Ask Me Anything Student Panels, Fall Campus Day, March Open House, etc.
  • Aiding in the development of virtual events

Student Ambassador, Community Engagement

The Student Ambassador, Community Engagement (3 Vacancies) will contribute to the development of programming for campus outreach activities and aid in the recruitment of student volunteers and campus partners to participate in recruitment initiatives.

Projects include:

  • Storytelling; gathering student stories from academic departments to profile and share with prospective student audiences
  • Developing innovative and interactive activities throughout the academic term for student events e.g. Orientation Week, Exam Jam, Winter Welcome Week, etc.
  • Participating in webinars and other prospective student engagement activities
  • Assisting with the volunteer management program.

Senior Peer Leader, ACE@UTM Program

The Senior Peer Leader, ACE@UTM (1 position available) will guide and mentor new students, in the Summer ACE@UTM Program, through their transition into their first year of study at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). They will also take on a leadership role, guiding the other ACE@UTM Peer Leaders through the creation, organization, and delivery of weekly informational and social programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides mentorship to incoming first year students in the ACE@UTM Program, guiding them through the program orientation and academic course enrolment process.
  • Provides timely, effective, and accurate referrals to on-campus services and resources.
  • Contributes to the development of programming, and offers ideas to provide excellent support to newly admitted students into the Summer ACE@UTM Program throughout the course of the program, focusing on academic culture, academic integrity, and social transition.
  • Leads a group of Peer Mentors through creation and delivery of programming and generally supports them in the completion of the Summer ACE @UTM Program.

Peer Leader, ACE@UTM Program

Our ACE@UTM Peer Leaders (2 positions available) help to support newly admitted students into the Summer ACE@UTM Program throughout the course of the program. The Peer Leader will mentor and guide new students through their transition into their first year at University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). The Peer Leader will assist students with completion of the program and with academic course selection, as well as providing information about resources at UTM. The Peer Leader will focus on delivering group mentoring sessions, individual check-ins, social activities and support other initiatives as needed.

Projects include:

  • Provides mentorship to incoming first year students in the ACE@UTM Program, guiding them through the program orientation and academic course enrolment process.
  • Provides timely, effective, and accurate referrals to on-campus services and resources.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Peer Leader to discuss issues, contributes to the development of programming, and offers ideas to provide support for new students in the program, focusing on academic culture, academic integrity, and social transition.
