Depending on the country of residence and citizenship (as stated in your travel document, such as a passport), foreign conference participants may require a visa or other documents to travel to Canada. To determine whether you require a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), please refer to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website:

Should you require a visitor visa (also known as a Temporary Resident Visa, or TRV), please follow the Visitor Visa application guidelines on the IRCC website. In most cases, the application fee is CAD 100.00 (one hundred Canadian dollars).
Foreign participants who require a visitor visa should contact the FRWG2024 Organizing Committee and request a Letter of Invitation from the University of Toronto once they have registered for the conference and paid the registration fee. Please contact us at frwg.toronto@utoronto.ca so that we can arrange the Letter of Invitation for you.
If you plan to travel by air and you require an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), please follow the instructions on the IRCC website. The cost is CAD 7.00 (seven Canadian dollars).
Information about Required Documents
It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain all required travel documents or permits before travel, and to cover the processing fees. The FRWG2024 Organizing Committee and the University of Toronto cannot contact the IRCC on your behalf. If you require assistance with your visa application, you’ll need to appoint an official representative.

Current application processing times can be checked on the IRCC website. Please remember that these processing times are only estimates and that your application may take longer to process. We strongly recommend that you start the application process well ahead of the conference.
