Indigenous Access Days
Upcoming Access Day: Thursday, October 2, 2025!
Indigenous Access days are exploratory days for Indigenous high schoolers in the Peel region to visit the university and learn about post-secondary opportunities. The activities included a Welcome Presentation by the Indigenous Programming Assistants, an information session about UTM, a library tour, and an Admissions & Recruitment session with Kwame.
“By prioritizing Indigenous access to post-secondary,” Delaney explained, “we are disrupting the historical patterns of excluding Indigenous thought and voices from western institutions.”

This program provided students a time to sit and sip with Elder and Professor, Darren Thomas | Wilfrid Laurier University. He is from the Seneca Nation, and his research includes indigenous community development and rights. This programming allowed students to listen to indigenous concerns and receive advice for post-secondary. Feedback included a change of perspective and path among students and peer mentors.
