An article recently published in Nature Genetics, in which Professor Parra is an investigator, is the largest study of its kind to elucidate the genetic factors involved in type-2 diabetes.

The study was a collaboration by several researchers from many different countries including Australia, China, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, United Kingdom, and USA.

UTM faculty, grad students and postdocs are invited to the first campus-wide Thirsty Thursday - UTM's monthly Research and Networking Social. It will take place on Thursday (of course), Feb. 13, 16:00 - 18:30 in the Faculty Club.

There will be soft drinks, snacks, a cash bar, and if you all drop by, great company and good conversation.
