U of T Mississauga Receives $2.3 Million in NSERC Discovery Grant funding

In addition to his Discovery Grant, Professor Patrick Gunning from the Department of Chemical & Physical Sciences was awarded an NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplement for $120,000 over three years to support his project, “Controlling Protein Complexation and Cellular Localization using Novel Molecular Therapeutics.”  The Accelerator Supplement “aims to provide substantial and timely additional resources to accelerate progress and maximize the impact of outstanding research programs” according to NSERC’s website.

Connaught Fund 2014

Researchers at U of T Mississauga will get a funding boost to support projects that range in varied topics from illegal gun smuggling at the Windsor-Detroit border, to evolution and early stages of animal life, and to reasoning and desire in the Victorian novel. 

Overall the New Researcher program provided over $920,000 to 53 faculty members across the university. To see the full list and article, please refer to the Research News section of the U of T website. 

Book Bonanza

Last Thursday in front of a large gathering in the Faculty Club, Ian Whyte averred his passion for books. “Personally, I love books. I read anything and everything, and, being an academic librarian, that’s probably a good thing,” declared Whyte, U of T Mississauga’s Chief Librarian. With this intro he helped to kick off UTM’s inaugural Celebration of Books.
