BAEE Meet our Ambassadors

UTM Crest

Tiffany | She/Her

My name is Tiffany, and I am a fourth-year Digital Enterprise Management student. I love playing tennis and meeting new people! Having grown up in the Caribbean and moved to Canada for university, I understand what it feels like to enter a new environment, feel out of place, and search for a sense of belonging. I am passionate about student leadership, equity, and creating inclusive communities. I became involved with BAEE because I want students to feel supported and confident that they belong in post-secondary spaces as they navigate their own journeys.

Alyssa | She/Her

Hi, my name is Alyssa, and I’m a Bachelor of Science student focusing on Biology and Forensic Science. Beyond academics, I am passionate about student leadership, mentorship, and creating supportive spaces where students feel represented and empowered to succeed. My involvement with Black Access to Educational Excellence (BAEE) reflects my commitment to helping prospective Black students navigate the transition to university. As a BAEE Ambassador, I enjoy connecting with students, sharing my university experiences, and introducing them to the academic, financial, social, and wellness resources available on campus so they can feel confident, supported, and prepared throughout their university journey.

Chanelle | She/Her

I am a fourth-year student in the Biology for Health Sciences major with a double minor in Chemistry and Biomedical Communications. I love trying new foods and experiences, fitness, music, and cooking. I became a BAEE Ambassador to support future Black students in navigating the often scary university decision-making process. I remember how frightening and isolating it was to choose the right university for me, and I want to provide the support I wish I had. Being a BAEE Ambassador means I can help prospective Black students feel welcome and represented and show them they have a place in post-secondary education. Fun fact: I am Jamaican :)

Laila | She/Her

Hi, I’m Laila, a fourth-year Digital Enterprise Management student at UTM. I’m interested in leadership, mentorship, and helping students find opportunities that excite them. Being involved in student initiatives has shaped my university experience and helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. Along the way, I’ve had people encourage me, share advice, and open doors for me. I joined BAEE because I want to pay that forward. I hope that sharing my experiences and successes will help Black high school students see what’s possible for themselves and feel excited about their next steps.

Naomi | She/They

I am a second-year student double majoring in Criminology and Professional Writing. I plan to apply to law school and become a criminal attorney. I love music, playing the piano and kalimba, art (I draw both traditionally and digitally), dancing, creative writing, and video games (especially story-driven ones). I joined BAEE to help make the transition easier for new Black students at UTM. I know how difficult it was to adjust in first year, so I want to share resources and my personal experience to help new students feel a sense of belonging on campus.

Ezekiel | He/Him

My name is Ezekiel, and I’m a second-year student at the University of Toronto Mississauga. I’m studying Commerce with hopes of eventually becoming a CPA and a firefighter, and I hope to build meaningful connections and friendships throughout my university experience. I enjoy writing, reading, sports like basketball and soccer, running, working out, and graphic design. I first got involved with BAEE last year through an orientation event. I really enjoyed the energy the ambassadors brought, which inspired me to ask how I could be part of the team, and I was given the great opportunity to join late last year.

Charlene | She/Her

Hi everyone! My name is Charlene, and I’m a third-year student studying Biology for Health Sciences and Criminology, Law and Society. I’m passionate about helping others and creating welcoming, supportive spaces within my community. I enjoy connecting people with resources and opportunities that can help them succeed, whether that means giving campus tours, helping students navigate resources, or simply being someone they can turn to for guidance. I’m excited to meet new people, learn from those around me, and contribute wherever I can. I look forward to getting to know everyone and making meaningful connections throughout the year!

Renfred | He/Him

I’m Renfred, a Computer Science and Mathematics student at the University of Toronto with interests in machine learning, software development, and education. I enjoy building things, exploring new ideas, and connecting with people who are passionate about creating positive change. I’m involved with BAEE because I value creating greater access to educational opportunities and supporting students in reaching their potential. I’m excited to contribute to a community that empowers Black students, learn from others’ experiences, and help create meaningful opportunities for students to grow and succeed.

Abdiaziz | He/Him

Hi, my name is Abdiaziz Ali, and I am a third-year Management Specialist student at UTM. I am interested in community engagement and volunteering. BAEE gives me the chance to connect with others, give back to the community, and be a support system for those who need my help.

Temilade (Temi) | She/Her

My name is Temilade, but I like to go by Temi. I’m a first-year Commerce student hoping to enter the Accounting Specialist program in my second year. My hobbies and interests include spending quality time with family and friends, eating, playing sports, watching crime-related TV shows and movies, and having fun in general. I wanted to become a BAEE Ambassador at UTM because I want to help create a supportive and welcoming environment for Black students. As a university student myself, I understand how important it is to feel represented, encouraged, and connected to a community where you can grow both academically and personally. I would love the opportunity to connect with other students, help promote educational opportunities, and encourage others to make the most of their university experience.

Maeva | She/Her

Hello! My name is Maeva, and I am planning to specialize in International Affairs at UTM. I am interested in athletics, specifically volleyball, basketball, and football, as well as socializing and meeting new people. As a social person, I wanted to join BAEE because I believe Black students should have the opportunity to connect with their community and to have mentors who support their success, not just as UTM students but as Black UTM students. After an unsuccessful attempt at my previous school, I am honoured to now be part of the BAEE Ambassador community!

Javonte | He/Him

Hi everyone! I am in my fourth year, double majoring in Biology for Health Sciences and Psychology. Outside of school, I enjoy solving puzzles, watching movies, listening to music, following almost any sporting event, and spending time in nature. I chose to become a BAEE Ambassador because I am deeply passionate about increasing the representation of Black students in higher education. This initiative aligns perfectly with my desire to empower prospective Black high school students by highlighting the pathways and resources available to support their academic aspirations.

Seth | He/Him

Hi! My name is Seth Idahosa. I am a second-year student at UTM, majoring in Biology for Health Sciences with minors in Education Studies and Professional Writing. I am Nigerian and have lived in Canada my whole life. I am also Christian. My interests include biology, video games, and music. I am interested in BAEE because I think it will be a great opportunity to build connections within the Black community at UTM and in the local area.

Daluchi | She/Her

Hiii! I am a first-year Life Sciences student here at UTM. I love watching TV shows and movies, crocheting, cooking and baking, drawing, painting, and art in general. I became a BAEE Ambassador because I believe having support, especially as a Black student, is very important and can greatly impact how you choose a university. Having grown up in Mississauga, I found that access to these resources really helped, especially being able to see people who look like me or share similar cultural backgrounds, which wasn’t as common in my past educational settings. I hope to help welcome and support prospective Black students in choosing the right university for them.

Kanyinsola  | She/Her

I am a fourth-year student in the Molecular Biology Specialist program with a minor in Chemistry. My hobbies and interests include singing, playing the piano and flute, watching TV shows, hanging out with my friends, and listening to music. I became a BAEE Ambassador to help ease the transition from high school to university for incoming students. I remember how scary and stressful that transition was for me, and I want to help relieve that stress and fear in any way I can.

Karisa | She/Her

My name is Karisa, and I am a fourth-year Biology Specialist student. I love to read, write, and sing with friends. I’m involved in BAEE because I remember having lots of questions when I was coming to UTM and feeling unsure about who to ask. I’d love to be that person for prospective Black students who are in the position I was once in.

Oseremen (Ose) | She/Her

I am a second-year student double majoring in Biology for Health Sciences and Psychology. I love watching movies, especially films from around the world, trying new foods, and getting involved in equity work. I became a BAEE Ambassador because I know how overwhelming the transition to university can feel, whether students are coming from across the country or from a high school down the street. I want to give back to my community and use my knowledge and experiences to pave the way for others, so prospective Black students feel represented, supported, and welcome at UTM.

Shaminah | She/Her

I am currently in my first year studying CCIT. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music and podcasts, and getting involved in my community. I became a BAEE Ambassador because I understand how important it is to see people who share similar experiences and backgrounds represented in the spaces where we learn, grow, and build our futures. I would like to contribute to an environment where Black students feel supported, heard, and encouraged to get involved.
