Take the next step in your career development today!
Welcome to the Career Centre! We’re here to support your career journey with a variety of appointment options tailored to meet your needs. On this page, you’ll find detailed information about the different types of appointments we offer, along with easy steps on how to book your session.
Please be aware that our appointments are in demand, and in order to maximize availability, we have a cancellation policy: students who fail to keep an appointment (i.e., do not cancel in advance, do not show up, arrive more than 10 mins late for a 30 min appointment or 15 mins late for a one-hour appointment) cannot book another appointment for two weeks. If this occurs three times, students will not be able to book an appointment for four months and will have to meet our senior manager to discuss a plan for ensuring future appointments are kept. If you need to cancel your appointment, please call us at least 1 business day in advance. Please note that virtual appointments are also available for any type of appointment. Please call for details.
Your privacy is respected in this process; we do not share information with others without your written consent unless required by law.
All appointments are private. Students wishing others to be present will first meet with the counsellor/advisor to discuss this request and arrive at a mutually agreed upon solution.
The UTM Career Centre and its staff support students with exceptionalities, neuro-diversities, differing abilities, and medical conditions, to plan their careers, gain experience, find jobs and prepare for further education such as graduate and professional schools. In our work with you, we will acknowledge your unique experiences, build on your strengths and affirm your values and goals. Our full range of services and supports are available to you (UTM Career Centre website and via CLNx with your UTorID).
You may also benefit from the one-on-one coaching and support of a Career Counsellor or Employment Strategist. Appointments (electronic and in-person) can help you develop career plans and strategies that meet your needs as an individual. If you are registered with Accessibility Services, you can also get a referral from your Accessibility Advisor to meet with a Career Counsellor who specializes in assisting students with disabilities. Not registered? You can still book with her at the Career Centre directly.

On Resume Blitz days, we offer a far greater number of Resume/Cover Letter Critique spots than usual. Take advantage of the increased number of critiques - it's an opportunity you won't want to miss! Please arrive on time to make the most of your scheduled slot.
Resume VS CV: a resume is typically used when applying for non-academic job opportunities. A CV (Curriculum Vitae) highlights your skills and expertise for academic programs and academic-related employment opportunities. For this Blitz Day, we will be focusing on resume critiques only. If you'd like support with a CV, please contact our front desk to book a 1-hour appointment with a career counsellor.
How the blitz works:
- Sign up on CLNx under the "Appointments" -> "Book UTM Critique" tab.
- Select a timeslot that you wish to book. Remember to check the details. Appointments can be in-person or virtual; you may select a slot according to your preference.
- You MUST upload a copy of your document while booking. You can only have one document critiqued per appointment
- You will receive a confirmation email once your appointment is booked. If your appointment is over Zoom, your Zoom link will be included in your confirmation email. If your appointment is in person, please come to DV2228 (Student Services Hub, main floor of Davis Building) five minutes before your appointment begins.
