About the Work Study Program at U of T
The Work-Study Program offers on-campus paid positions that provides students with an opportunity to gain practical work experience. The program runs twice each year (fall/winter, and summer). Work Study positions are supervised by U of T Faculty and Staff.
Work Study positions offer students with the opportunity to strengthen skills. Work Study encourages students to self-reflect and be mindful to deepen knowledge and develop life and career skills. The program allows students to explore how academic studies translate into career possibilities.
The Work Study Program is offered in two streams:
Work Experience Stream
The Work Experience Stream is designed to support students in developing and articulating workplace skills and competencies and in building workplace experience and knowledge. These positions are supervised by staff, faculty or librarians and include opportunities to explore and reflect on how academic studies connect to workplace competencies and how the Work Study experience translates to career possibilities.
Research Experience Stream
The Research Experience Stream is designed to support students in locating and participating in faculty-led research opportunities. These positions provide students with the opportunity to undertake or support a research project under the direction of a faculty member and involve the application of foundational methodologies and / or theories within a research field. They also include opportunities to explore and reflect on how academic studies connect to workplace competencies and how the Work Study experience translates to career possibilities. Research Experience Stream roles will vary in their required qualifications but seek to provide research opportunities for students with various levels of experience in research, including entry-level.
All Work-Study positions are CCR recognized (see the CCR website to learn more).
