After applying to the University of Toronto, you will receive an email acknowledgement giving you access to the Join U of T Applicant Website. This website will outline your next steps, allow you to review the status of your application, and show you a complete list of required documents to complete your application. These documents can include, but are not limited to:
Grades / Test Scores / Transcripts
Depending on the educational system, and whether you are required to do so, your transcript(s) must be submitted electronically whenever possible.
English Language Test Scores
If your first language is not English, or do not meet our English Language Requirements, you may need to submit proficiency scores.
Transfer Credit Applications
If your offer of admission to the University requires a Transfer Credit Application, you must submit this application and pay the fee before you begin your studies with us.
Supplementary / Additional Documentation
Items such as resumes, recommendation letters, and personal achievement awards will not be taken into consideration to the admissions process.
Canadian High Schools & Post-Secondary
If you are an Ontario High School applicant, your high school will automatically send your marks electronically to the OUAC and the OUAC will forward them to U of T. You can review your OUAC account to ensure that the information submitted on your behalf is accurate.
Outside of Ontario and depending on the educational system, your transcript of grades can be submitted electronically or by standard mail. Please refer to the instructions on the Join U of T Applicant Website for your required documents and send them to us.
Did you earn earn university credit for work you've done in high school?
This can include programs such as the International Baccalaureate program. After applying, we will automatically determine if you qualify for transfer credits based on your academic performances!
International High School & Post-Secondary
All required documents outlined in you Join U of T Applicant Website must be submitted electronically via Parchment/Naviance whenever possible. This is the quickest and most efficient method of document submission for international applicants.
Please note that official and complete transcripts for your secondary school studies (including notarized English translations of all documents issued in a language other than English or French) are required as part of your application. See below for more information about official vs. non-official documents.
If you are currently enrolled in the final year of your matriculation program, we will review your application for a possible conditional offer of admission. If you do not qualify on the basis of your interim/mid-term results, it is unlikely that we will be able to reassess your application when final grades are received; however, if space is available in the program of your choice, we may reconsider your application.
Updates for SAT or ACT
We are now test-optional!
Applicants who cannot or choose not to submit SAT or ACT test results will not be disadvantaged in the admissions process. If you wish to have these considered in the admission process, you are encouraged to have them submitted.
Official vs. Unofficial Documents
- Documents received via Parchment/Naviance are considered official.
- Official transcripts received in a sealed envelope sent directly from your high school or examination board are considered official.
- If you have written or plan to write APs or IBs arrange to have the results sent electronically directly from the appropriate testing authority to Enrolment Services; these are considered official.
- If we give you the opportunity to upload your documents directly on the Join U of T website, these are considered unofficial.
Any documents, official or unofficial, that are submitted to the University of Toronto in the application process become the property of the university and will not be returned or forwarded to other institutions. We do not retain documents from previous applications. Do not submit any irreplaceable documents to U of T Mississauga or University Admissions and Outreach.
