Mapping Your Education: An Evening for Grade 9-11s

Parents and prospective students sitting in a lecture theatre

Wednesday, May 8, 2019 | 7:00pm - 9:00pm

University can seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Let us help you prepare for your next steps if you're considering a university education. You and your family are invited to join us on campus to learn more about the opportunities available to you, ask questions, and hear from students who were once in the same place as you.

Event Schedule

7:00pm - 7:30pm University Admissions & the University of Toronto
Receive an overview of the expectations we have of applications and what you can expect during the application process. We'll also show you how students and parents can help each other during the transition to university.
7:30pm - 8:30pm The BIG Step (Students)
Are you worried about getting lost on your first day, or feeling like you might become just a number among thousands? You’re not alone, and we’ll show you why there’s nothing to be afraid of! Led by a recent U of T Mississauga graduate, we’ll provide our personal tips and tricks that will make your journey through university as smooth as possible. Topics will also include an overview of both the academic and social resources offered on campus to guide from year one to year done.
Is University the Right Fit for my Student? (Parents)
What can you do to support your student through this big transition? What are your student’s options? How do you know which path is right for your student? These questions and more will be discussed in this informative session led by a member of the Student Recruitment & Admissions team.
8:30pm - 9:00pm Post-secondary Road Mapping
Learn about how to structure your high school courses to get ahead during the application process, dates and deadlines, and get a preview of the myriad of programs, exciting extracurriculars, and boundless opportunities waiting for you. We'll also discuss money matters including budgeting, scholarships, and financial aid.
