Program: 4th year Paleontology and Earth Science Major and Biology Minor
Hometown: Brampton, Ontario
Why did you choose UTM? I picked UTM for two main reasons: the presence of the Paleontology program (A program only available in other provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan) and its close distance from my home in Brampton.
What are you involved in on campus?:
- The Reisz Lab of Vertebrate Paleontology
- Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre (Library)
- Student Recruitment and Admissions
- President of the UTM Paleontology Club
- Modelling for UTM Campus Merchandise
I am a pro on this UTM topic: If I had to pick one thing I’m the best at on campus, I’d probably say my ability to make friends with everyone I meet here! Everyone I’ve spoken to has taught me something new, whether it's about the campus, myself, or my worldview as a whole.
A course you succeeded at/most interesting course you’ve taken at UTM?: An enjoyable course I’d recommend would be ANT210H5 - Fantasies, Hoaxes and Misinterpretations of the Ancient world! It’s a great course with no prerequisites, and you get to learn a lot of fun facts about Aliens, Cryptids, and so much more!
What is your favourite event you’ve attended at UTM?: My favourite event I’ve attended on campus that’s held a special place in my heart would be the Canadian Paleontology Conference held in 2023 on campus. I learned a lot about the field I‘m pursuing, and I’ve met a lot of people who would become some of the most important people in my life through this event.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to prospective students about studying at UTM? Talk to your Teaching Assistants and Professors! All of them are really cool people, and they’re here to make sure you succeed! I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for my professors and teaching assistants who lent me a helping hand.
What are your future aspirations after you graduate?: After I graduate, I hope to pursue a Master’s degree in Paleontology either at UTM or another university!
