Meet our Ambassadors:

Chanelle

Chanelle | She/Her

I am a second-year student in the Biology for Health Science major and a double minor in Chemistry and Biomedical Communications. My hobbies include trying new things and places, fitness, music, cooking, and reading. I became a BAEE Ambassador to support future Black students in navigating the often-scary university decision-making process. I remember how frightening and isolating navigating the process of choosing the right university for me was, and I want to provide the support I wish I had. Being a BAEE ambassador means I can make prospective Black students feel welcome and represented and show them they have a place in post-secondary education.

I am a second-year student in the Biology for Health Science major and double minor in Chemistry and Biomedical Communications. My hobbies include reading and drawing. I became a BAEE ambassador because I find it very fun to interact with students in the position I once was. I also want to make the experience of entering university more enjoyable by addressing any anxieties and questions that any prospective student has. : )

I am a second-year student studying in the Molecular Biology specialist and Psychology minor. My hobbies and interests include singing, playing the piano and flute, watching TV shows, hanging out with my friends, and listening to music. I became a BAEE ambassador to help ease the transition between university and high school for incoming students. I remember how scary and stressful the transition process was for me, and I want to help relieve that stress and fear in any way I can.

Javonte

Javonte | He/Him

I am double majoring in Biology for Health Science and Psychology. I have a strong passion for mental health and wellness, emphasising the importance of mindfulness, self-care, and maintaining a well-balanced lifestyle. Additionally, I am deeply passionate about learning and teaching, particularly within healthcare and community upliftment. Outside of school, I enjoy solving puzzles, watching movies, listening to music, following almost any sporting event, walking along trails or riversides, and capturing photos of the sky. I chose to become a BAEE Ambassador at the University of Toronto Mississauga because I am deeply passionate about increasing the representation of Black students in higher education. This initiative aligns perfectly with my desire to empower prospective Black high school students by highlighting the pathways and resources available to support their academic aspirations. I wanted to be part of a program that addresses the unique challenges faced by our community and creates opportunities for engagement and representation in spaces where we are often underrepresented.

emilia

Emilia | She/Her

I am currently in the Biology for Health Sciences major with a double minor in Chemistry and Psychology. I enjoy reading, listening to psychology podcasts, and casually interviewing people to understand their views and opinions. I aspire to be a physician of repute, particularly for underprivileged people. I also intend to create an NGO that provides for such individuals. As someone passionate about making a lasting impact, I desire to influence the Black community in ways that not only match but surpass the profound inspiration I have drawn from other Black luminaries. Being a BAEE ambassador offers me the privilege and platform to pursue this goal, enabling me to make meaningful contributions and uplift the community I hold so dear.

Ashley | She/Her

I am in my second year doing a double major in Biology and Chemistry. A few of my hobbies include traveling, cooking, and photography. I wanted to be a part of the initiative that supported me during my transition to UTM. This is my way of giving back to the community by becoming a BAEE Ambassador. It is important for prospective black students to see representation in these leadership roles to foster a sense of belonging in these spaces. Through this experience, I hope to strengthen my leadership skills, gain valuable knowledge, and experience and make new connections with a community of student leaders.

Olamide | She/Her

I am currently in my second year in the Molecular Biology specialist program. I enjoy reading, listening to music, playing the guitar, watching Korean dramas, and volunteering in my community. I became a student recruitment ambassador because I am deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment for all. This position allows me to contribute to programs that benefit historically under-served and underrepresented communities, something I am deeply passionate about. Through my work with the Student Recruitment and Admissions team, I am proud to give back to my community. By collaborating with peers, departments, and student organizations, I help create meaningful events and dialogues that promote inclusion and allow every student to feel supported and validated.

Adegheosa | She/Her

I am currently in my second year in the comparative physiology specialist program. I love exploring and building communications. I also enjoy getting involved in my community. I became a BAEE ambassador because it allows me to celebrate the wins of current and prospective Black students. Excelling as a Black person in spaces not meant for Black people is a huge accomplishment, and it should be celebrated. Moreover, becoming a BAEE ambassador means that I can share my experience with prospective students and positively impact their lives. I have a role to play in bettering this world, and that is to help my community and continually create spaces where everybody feels welcome

jezreel

Jezreel | He/Him

I am pursuing a major in Biology of Health Sciences with minors in Education Studies and Biomedical Communications. I aspire to become a Pediatrician, driven by my deep passion for medicine and active involvement in related extracurricular activities. Outside of academics, I enjoy working out, capturing videography with my gimbal camera, reading books, creating content for YouTube, and mentoring youth. As a BAEE ambassador since October 2022, my goal for BAEE has always been to serve as an accessible and supportive resource for Black students from less privileged backgrounds. I am deeply moved by the challenges faced by Black youth in under-resourced areas across Canada, where limited access to educational opportunities unfairly restricts their potential. This inequity fuels my commitment to empowering these students by providing guidance and inspiration to help them pursue higher education. My hope is to not only help Black youth discover their purpose but also to inspire them to become agents of change, encouraging others to attend university and achieve remarkable success.

monisola

Monisola | She/Her

My name is Monisola, and my pronouns are she/her. I’m currently studying Political Science at UTM. Outside of my academic interests, I’m passionate about hiking and reading—both give me a chance to reflect, recharge, and explore new perspectives. I decided to become a BAEE ambassador because I want to support and uplift other Black students. I know how impactful mentorship and guidance can be, and I’m excited to provide the help and encouragement that students might need as they navigate their own journeys. Through this experience, I hope to grow as a mentor and advocate while building connections within the BAEE community. I’m looking forward to making a meaningful difference and learning more about how I can empower others in their academic and personal lives.
