About the BCom at UTM
In the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), degree-level expectations establish a rigorous framework through which students develop the essential competencies of a university graduate while advancing their capacity to think critically and act with purpose. Students will achieve both breadth and depth of knowledge, engaging with diverse disciplinary perspectives while developing specialized expertise in commerce through progressively advanced study.
BCom students gain familiarity with a range of methodologies and learn to select and apply appropriate analytical approaches to address complex financial, economic, and organizational questions. Consistent with these expectations, students apply their knowledge in thoughtful and innovative ways - formulating questions, evaluating evidence, constructing well-supported arguments, and generating solutions that reflect awareness of broader societal and ethical considerations. They also develop strong communication skills, enabling them to present ideas clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences, while cultivating an awareness of the limits and uncertainties of knowledge in complex contexts.
Collectively, these expectations prepare BCom graduates to demonstrate autonomy, professionalism, and integrity, positioning them to contribute responsibly and creatively within a dynamic and evolving professional environment.
